Dang, that rust is a bummer. Still a rad truck though! But you've got your work cut out for ya!

I love seeing these trucks restored, not to mention you're only a few towns over.

That pic of the B-pillar area is exactly how mine was, the only thing holding the seatbelt in was the carpet and a bit of rust... The strange part was my floors were perfect, we ended up cutting the rockers out, fabbing up replacement pieces for the B-pillar area out of thicker steel, and replacing the tailpan and a crossmember under the floor of the cab area. All together it was like 67 hours of work to get everything put back together. My one regret, is I don't have any pictures. Keep it up, this is going to be an awesome truck when you're done!!!

nice clean engine rebuild :thumb:

are you going for straight stock resto or will you add a small lift and some bigger tires?

nice build so far i'll be watch cause i have an 88 also...

Wow the rust has to suck. Are you doing the body work yourself or having it done?
I do remember when mine was gutted on the inside, It's not that bad to put back together.

oh yeah the rust sucks bad its everywhere!!

id really have like to have done it right with a 383 a 4" lift and 35's but this thing stayed original and unmolested for so many year i think itd be a shame. my goal is to get it as close to that first photo as i can (even with that new car smell).
everyone else in reality already realizes that im gonna throw thousands of dollars at it and itll probally never be completed and really if it ever were itll never be anything but an 88 k5 blazer and im probally the only one thatll ever want it. but thats ok with me

As long as you're happy with the outcome/adventure, then it should be worth it. That's what I keep telling myself at least... :haha:

You can get that new car smell I have it. :D
It's all about what makes you happy with it, spend what you want to get it how you want it to be. Yes it will only be an 88 K5 but it will be yours to be proud of, and bring back the old memories every time you drive it.:thumb:

dismantle

two hours to get the bumper off. 15 min for the tailgate to fall off. an hour each door trying to undo the wireing through the dash.

seeing how tuff that bumper was i dont think alot is gonna be unbolted from the chassis, more like alot of cutting and grinding

That has to suck!
Rust is just an evil thing.
I'm glad I don't have hardly anything like tat to deal with.
Glad I live in Texas!
Believe me the disassemble sucks, Just take your time, take lots of pic, bag and label everything.
When everything starts going back together it will be easier and as you make progress putting it back together you will have that feeling of satisfaction.
