1989 crew cab

Just a place holder here it will be a while before I start. It's all in pieces.
So I have an opportunity to get a 98 crew cab with the l29 and 4l80e.
I can put my cab on that frame but is there any advantage to using it, the 98 frame I mean.
I know it's wider so easier to have headers or anything around the engine but sas will be required for the front axle.
Trying to line things up.
I thought the newer frames were all boxed/hydroformed?

It’s my understanding the hydro formed frames started with the redesign in 1999.
I believe you are right.
But anyway I had him at $800 for the whole 2wd truck with a bad transmission.
Now he wants $1500 for the engine alone.
I am fine with my frame.
Got some b52 for the front, not sure if I will use them or not.
I will be getting a shackle flip for the rear and most likely add helper air springs I already have.
I am trying to figure out the best approach to get it to diesel status.
I could just get one of my 6.2 prepared for turbo and stick with it but I really want the perkins in it.
That means I have to temporarily get a 6.2l in it and register it and then I can swap the perkins in.
I guess it's a good thing I am practicing again on the 6.2 in my suburban.
I just like the straight six much easier access to everything
