This is one of the few remaining annoyances in my k5.
Seat just slides back and forth upon acceleration and braking. The stop on it isn't being pulled into the notches in the seat track. Looks like the intended design is to have this disengage the stops when the back is folded forward allowing passengers to "escape". The cable is intact but doesn't appear to be doing a whole lot. Is there a spring missing? The mechanisms appear to be different between sides so comparing the 2 doesn't seem to help much.

There is a spring that pulls the locking arm to engage a hole on the track. I can't remember which years, but some have a cable across so it locks on both tracks.

Since I posted this I went to the hardware store and found a spring that would work, only problem is it sticks out like a sore thumb. I put it in the locking mech and ran it to the front of the seat track. It works and now I can have passengers, well maybe I should bolt that seat belt in first.
