1990 2500 Suburban

It's now waiting for a 4L80E to be complete since the factory trans was shifting too early and slipping under full power and whining from the pump. Then I'll swap that in and it'll go back home.

I’m very excited! Can’t wait to get it back to Arkansas. Great work Heath!
Glad I could help you, it's a real nice rig, you roll around under it and there is no rust anywhere on the body. The new engine and trans will be a great combination.

No pics of a volcano manifold?

It does have a Volcano insert in the Edelbrock MPFI intake yes, good point, no picture...

I’ve had the truck back for a couple of months now and I can’t begin to describe how awesome it is. Heath did such an amazing job with everything. I’m not sure he is looking for another project like this, but if you ever have an opportunity to do business with him you won’t be disappointed. He’s detail oriented and will make sure things are correct. It’s amazing to be able to pull a side by side on a tandem trailer and merge onto the interstate with torque to spare.

Now on to tearing apart my 74 K5.

Really nice Suburban, love it.
I found this thread researching a big block swap for my 1991 V2500 suburban. How did you shift the 4l80E in your truck? My '91 has the stock 4L80E in it and I don't know how to shift it if I go to a big block with ProFlo4.

Edelbrock sells a TCU that communicates with the PF4 now, I can get you one when the time comes. Since you already have the PF4, it works really well and plugs right in, the TCU is about the same size as the ECU. I did have to install a switch to tell the TCU when the trans is in low range, because the factory 4WD switch only tells 4WD, and the TCU doesn't care about 4WD, it only cares about low range. If the trans had a speed sensor in the output, then I would just use that and you don't have to worry about it.

If someone is still buying EFI and needs trans control, then it's less expensive to start with the Terminator X Max w/trans control built in.
