1990 GMC suburban "The YETI"

we had some rain lastnight then it snowed about 2-3 inches, locked the hubs in but didn't engage the 4wd. no issues coming into work and the last bit is up a pretty steep incline, when I goosed it they would break loose but as soon as I let up they grabbed again. so I would say so far the tires are nice, we will test them in deeper snow later this year early next year going ice fishing.

so when I got the suburban the blower motor didn't work, replaced it and it worked great for a week, then high speed quit working lol. ordered a new blower resistor last night, will be here tomorrow.

Looks like it's in awesome shape. All this "hard to find" talk makes me nervous. I wish I had the funds to search the country for good shape finds. Interior looks mint! Good luck!

The blower resistor has nothing to do with high speed, only the lower speeds.

Your high speed relay is bad.

Martin

thanks martin

I will get a blower relay also, neither are expensive then at least I know they are new.

it has been raining/snowing every day so I have gotten like half an hour each day to do something with the suburban, so this update is just small stuff, I still have a whole box of stuff to put on it.

replaced the blower motor relay and the fan works on high again, the prices were cheap so I replaced the blower motor resistor while I was at it.

the windshield washer pump worked before but the hoses running to the wipers was ripped and split so when I hit the washer it shot out in front of the vehicle lol, just picked up some vacuum line and used it.

installed my LED light bar I had on the 4runner, its just a Chinese built one but man this thing is like turning the sun on.

organized the back, instead of all my tool bags just being tossed in there I put them in a Rubbermaid action packer I had in storage. I remember these things being more resilient when I was younger. I also put the stock jack back under the hood.

Well the wife came up with the name for the burb, we had 3 inches of fresh snow yesterday then it rained off from 6 hours of rain, and we woke to 5 inches of snow and its still coming down hard. the burb just cruises around with no issues, the wife says the YETI is in its natural habitat.

*if anyone knows how to edit the thread name with the new forum let me know*

I am doing something today that I hate to do...... im taking it to a shop to get some work done. we have been in the teens during the days and single digits at night for the last week plus and still have about 8 inches of snow and suppose to get 4 more days of snow this week. so without a shop to work in, I am gonna pay to have the wheel bearings replaced in the front. the older I get the less I want to work in the cold lol

well good news, bad news, good news

bearings were fine, I have a small amount of play in one of my lower ball joints, but it is still within spec to be safe to drive. I will change the ball joints once the weather warms up before our trip in May.

I feel ya, sometimes it's hard even with a heated shop. The truck itself is still cold and if it's snowed you're getting dripped on the whole time.

Yeti to the rescue!!!!

roads were fine when I came to work, shortly after that it turned to freezing rain (and 3 hours later is still freezing rain). a couple of my employees got stuck in town and couldn't make it. so I jumped in the Yeti and headed in, no problem for it. picked them all up and made it back to work safe and sound.

Good luck w/ the burb. About your seat back, check under the truck to see if the floor is ripped. My blazer was the same way when I bought it. The floor had ripped where the seat frame rested on it and the PO put a few big sockets around the rear bolts to prop the back of the seat up. It was actually resting on the muffler.

had that on an old blazer also, I didn't think about it. I will have to look when im doing my shocks.

That sounds like fun!
