1990 GMC Suburban

Never done a build thread anywhere so I figured I give it a try, especially as I'm at a point where I have some questions.
I bought this truck originally with the intention of fixing the things that needed done and selling it. Life got in the way and it's set for a few years.
Oldest daughter started driving and mildly expressed interest in driving it, which then made it a priority. Bought a GM L44 and a pile of other parts I knew it needed. She changed her mind, saved her money and is in the process of buying her own. Youngest daughter 13 has since swooped in and claimed it as hers, so I guess I'm keeping it for now.

Inside of orginal motor, I've seen worse, it actually ran good despite the oil problem. 20190804_101056.jpg

So I felt like before I put it back together I should rebuild or re gasket this 30 yr old oil caked TBI. Bought this AC Delco kit 19238102 and a 14 lb spring. Never done one before is it terribly difficult? Any good guides? What is the best way to clean these things?15649294109253279470232169640902.jpg

Those grade 5 manifold bolts should do the trick! :D

Perfect example of what happens when you don't change your oil often enough! Thanks for posting that!

Not an expert, but I found it had a fairly new pcv valve, but the line from the valve to the tbi and inside the tube on the tbi was 100% packed full as far as it could go into the throttle body. I could see myself, or someone else thinking they were doing the right thing replacing the valve but not realizing it was 100% blocked behind it . My guess is that pushed the pressure and oil out the next path of least resistance. I'll be making sure I am checking the entire path when I replace any in the future.

Yes, not finished but was able to get the motor back in a few months ago then I got busy with other things. I might get some work done this weekend. I'll try to update it.

I'm going to try to update this as I didn't do a great job as I did things.

Steering brace went in, frame had no cracks I saw but figured it was worth doing. Added xj shaft at the same time.

Rubber line inside tank rotted out, put an ep381 pump and cleaned up the tank, had to replace all the fuel lines as the filter was frozen on . Bought the fuel, Trans and ss brake lines. Still need to do the brakes and transmission lines.20220801_144643.jpg20220803_120344.jpg20220709_134040.jpg

Rebuilt an m12000 winch for it, it may or may not go on. Daughter likes the chrome bumper, thought I could get a between the frame rail mount behind the bumper but apparently it's too big for that. So we will see..20220806_143606.jpg

Got the passenger side door relay upgrade done. Replaced the motor at the same time and new weatherstripping. Greased everything also. It's fast now, need to get the drivers done. Put a new motor in the rear passenger side. I won't be doing the rear drivers side as those smaller doors were an absolute pita.IMG_20201202_204645_387.jpg
