Thinking about cutting out most of my rusty rockers and welding in 2x6 steel tube rock sliders. Want info or input from anyone who has done it. I have 2x6 steel laying around but it's only 1/8 wall will that be strong enough? How do I tie it in as rocker replacement and rock sliders without issues when body and frame flex? Any input appreciated. Pictures really appreciated. Mike

1/8" is in no way strong enough. I saw a guy with 1/8" slider on a cherokee bend them far enough on the first rock to where he couldnt open the door. You want a bare minimum of 3/16" but optimal is 1/4" and some may even say thats to thin lol

That's what I was thinking. Bummer because I have a bunch of free 2x6 1/8 free steel tubing laying around I'll have to get some new materials.

Well it depends if you are doing it so you can go bash on the rocks or to remove rusty week rockers and putting something stronger.
In that case 1/8" would be much stronger than original body.
I personally had 1/4" on hand so it's what I used but I never touched a rock.
I also did not tie in to the frame.
I just cut the curved part of the rocker and kept the back part and the top.
Then I welded the 2x6 on and that was it.
Served for years until finally the whole frame fell apart.
