1991 5.7L Bored TBI Upgrade Write-up (warning LOTS of pics!)

I may have to have a moderator blow out and delete the thread and I may have to re do it. I have one more thing I am trying to fix. What happened was the .jpg extension disappeared from the HTML.

This thread is making it hard not to call tomorrow and make my order....lol. Been thinking about doing this for some time now. Nice to hear someones take on the whole set up.

Nice write up.

I took the plunge and ordered everything up today. Reading your results and opinion help finalize my decision.....thanks, spending more money....lol. Definitely will be using this write up as reference.

I hope it turns out great for ya. I read on here another guy did same thing and was not impressed. but I have no idea what his full specs and deal was.

Like any upgrade to a TBI motor, to find all it's worth, along with all that was left out of stock chip... you need one tuned for engine and changes.
:waytogo:

Yeah see mine turned out great with noticeable differences. right now I am up int he air of doing any more massive money upgrades and just saving for the 6BT swap.

UPDATE

I cant seem to get the TV cable for the tranny adjusted correctly since the upgrade. When I did the spacer I did add the spacers to lift the cable bracket as well. I think part of it mayeb the way the bracket is and the way you space it may not reposition where it needs to go due to that the two spacers are at to angles.

After doing a bit of a drive I could smell tranny fluid. I headed back home and found a few things the tranny fluid is beginning to get that over used smell and it was a bit dark in color, also the tranyy was shifting odd.

Next weekend I am going to remove the TBI spacer and put the bracket back to stock and go from there. I am also flushing the fluid and changing the filter.

My current setup already has a TB spacer so I'm hoping it will hook up the same with the RV Morse set up. I can take a picture later if want to compare it to yours?

Sure post up a pick. more importantly for the photo is the cable bracketry and spacers for the bracket and how the bracket sits overall in relation tot he TBI.

this is how I did mine. sorry, pics suck. I cut at the blue line and added a 1" square piece of steel to the bracket. I welded it in place in the truck so pay no attention to the ugly welds:whistle:

I cut at the blue line and added...
Is that anywhere near the yellow line? :haha:

OK back to serious... so yours went straght up?

The spacers pma4x4 used raised it on an angle?

My geometry is not that good but I would think straight up same hieght as spacer would keep it accurate? Geometry seems to be very important in this PDF for adjsuting...
