1991 5.7L Bored TBI Upgrade Write-up (warning LOTS of pics!)

Can someone do me a favor. I need a measurement without any spacer at all. I need to measure from the face of the bracket The section the TV cable comes thru) to the center of the pin it snaps on.

I am going to compare that against my lifted bracket and see if there is any difference.

I received my TBI from RV Morse today. Mine was packaged a bit different than yours.

Can't wait to get this thing installed.

Got everything installed this morning. I have the same results as PMA. Great throttle response and low end torque. Doesn't take as much skinny pedal to get her moving and I'm running the fuel at 12 psi to see how she does, but plan to play with the psi a bit on each tank of gas and see where the best setting is for my rig.

I'm very happy with it. Because the PO had installed a TB spacer, I didn't have any issues with the throttle linkage bracket. For the coil, I just unbolted it from the throttle linkage and rotated it to clear the fuel lines.

A little update on my RV Morse full kit set up.

Still running 12 psi on the fuel pressure. I went from averaging 10 MPG to 12.5 MPG. That is in town driving over three tanks of gas (average).

Rig stats are in sig.

Im thinking about backing psi down a bit from the 13pis its at now. and see what results i get.

First thing first is i discovered I am not getting lock up in the tranny so I need to diagnose that.

There's really nothing done there to increase MPG, all those improvements are for HP WOT. More then likely you fixed an injector, vacuum leak etc...

10 is pretty low, 12.5 is realistic depending on rig. Like my stock 2wd Suburban would get better then a 4x4 and a 4x4 with big tires would be worse. My 2wd 90 Suburban gets 15 town and 18+ freeway but the chip is not stock.

But who cares? Your up 25% MPG! :thumb:

There is also a bit of gain in other spots as well. Quicker starts, smoother idle. it climbs in RPM faster. I noticed on mine that it takes off from a stop much quicker. My mpg pretty much stayed the same but gained all the other stuff.

Do you have a laptop? Can you get a cable to data log?

If so I'll do a tune for you so you can see real increase in work you've done. Real world test of MPG, power and drivability since you have baseline records.

Agreed, its just running a heck of a lot better. Like mentioned before, better idle, less skinny pedal to get it up to speed now. Overall running better and smoother.

I would be interested as well. Just need more info to get you what you need. Thanks.

I did a TunerPro Starter Tutorial for guys that want to tune. It's a lot and really all you need is the Data Logging part. But from there you can expand.

Start threads for your trucks. :woot:

Eagle, if you have links post them up but I guess what I am wanting to know is this. I am interested in tuning but I just want better efficiency. I dont want it it to loose MPG if possible.

Right now I am chasing a TCC no lock up bug so I have other things on my plate.

Links to? More then above your post?

A proper tune does not loose any MPG, it increases them and overall drivability. It also increases power, both are controlled by the skinny pedal! :D

Start a new thread for your TCC, same for a tune, this thread is great but heading to many directions right now.

Yeah I was thinking same thing.

You should see if RV will give you any commission, i just ordered a complete kit as described in this thread. I already have the Edlebrock intake and salad bowl. Plus i can tune the computer myself.
