1991 Blazer silverado front tire outer side is wearing off faster

Funny you should mention the TTB F*rd stuff. My Parts manager is a died in the wool Ford nut. (ironic huh?) He's got a 95 F250 powersmoke with the TTB front end. He was in need of new tires as the last two sets only lasted 10-15k per set since the fronts keep chewing the edges off. He's rebuilt the front end completely and it still chews up tires. He seems to think based on what he's read some tires/tread patterns run better on the TTB setup than others so he switched to BFG all terrain K02's. I'm not buying that tires are the difference. A Ford D60 out of a F350 would fix his problem better than brand of tires I bet.

I'll post up a pic from our alignment machine from mine this week for an example.

Tell him if he wants the best tire wear pattern on that F-truck - just weld the things so they can't move.

For the record - I was a Remington, Firestone and Carlisle tire dealer and there was a significant difference in tread wear on those d@mned things.

The fewer crossover keystone sipes on the tires, the better they wear. It's the sideways scrubbing that wipes them out and although not any tire is totally immune to this design - some tread patterns fair better than others irrespective of rubber compounds, shocks, alignment, and overweight drivers. It's a ford thing. (small 'f') .

Yeah he's the constant butt to our jokes driving that ford. It's all in good fun for sure, but holey hell what a crappy setup on a TTB front end. D60 is the way to go. Toss the TTB crap in the scrap pile.

TTB setups looked like garbage to me the first time I saw them but I'm not here to rip on Fords. Back in the day I had a 68 Bronco and it was a fun little beast to drive, but then again that was a straight axle on coil springs so I imagine some folks think that's the high bar for stock setups. Truth is I miss that old Bronco, but then again I miss my 71 nova (2 door) and my 77 Jimmy just as much.

Mine wasn't without problems but after a set of rear wheel bearings, replacing the floor shifter, and throwing on some Thrush turbo mufflers and some 302 GT 40 heads with a edelbrock intake and performer carb it was everything a kid in High school could dream of having. The previous owner had dropped what looked like a junkyard 302 in it and some of the valves had lash caps and some didn't. It was a real mixed bag. I think that was about 600 bucks worth of parts on a 1200 dollar truck back in 1988. I got a set of brand new Goodyear Wranger 31 x 10.50's for my birthday and that truck needed nothing else after that except to replace the vacuum operated windshield wiper with an electric one and add a stereo and some speakers. I shake my head knowing what I sold that truck for vs what is worth now days... (No I won't say, lol) The only catch 22 about those old Bronco's was you were esentially sitting on one of the two gas tanks, and it did not fail to smell up the inside. Probably an easy problem to resolve now days.
