OK guys...my motor is finally done and will be picking up my Blazer next week. Next item is exhaust. I'm thinking about relocating the mufflers further back than normal to help calm down the "glasspack" sound. I have Magnaflow mufflers with 4" tips now but I don't want the normal 2 1/5" look or sound and don't want a lot of back pressure and popping.

Thoughts?

I like flowmaster sound. Rich and mellow. Not the best muffler for high performance, but has a great sound IMO. I have super 44s. As I get older I start to think it's too loud (headers/duals). I might go 50s or something next time.

A lot of folks don't like FMs for whatever reason, but it sounds like they'd suit your needs.

EDIT: By the way, mine are just in front of the real axle. Drone isn't bad. No poppy sound.

I'm guessing you have duals?

Costly to run two, but cats seem to do a real good job of getting rid of that "popping" sound.

Where would you put mufflers further back than stock? Based on what I recall from the stock mufflers, you could only get maybe another couple of inches before you run into the body on the muffler outlet? Maybe some resonators forward of the mufflers?

Try some resonated tips. I just put on on my Tracker and it's amazing the difference it made.
