I'm looking at getting a parts Suburban... wasn't too enthusiastic about it at first for $500 non-running, but then I started to think that it's a '91... so it shouldn't have a 700R4 anymore... would it be a 4L60E tranny and NP241 T-case?

Regular TBI 350 motor in it, 1-piece serpentine belt pulley setup, 10-bolts front and rear, Grand Prix conversion wth some of the add-ons, visor, running boards/flares, newer style steering wheel, brush guard. Also it has a rust free nose clip and the '91 core support/grille I thought about using on my '81 Crew Cab.

So would I be correct in assuming it should be a 4L60E and NP241? Or would a 1/2 ton '91 Suburban still be a 700R4? If it's the 4L60E and NP241 I'm thinking it oughtta be worth me trying to buy the whole thing for the $500.

4l60Es didn't come along until 1993. Its just a 4l60(700R4) and 241.

If it were me. I'd buy it, throw your Crew Cab body on that frame with that front end, and cut a short bed to a super short bed. I've always wanted to build one of those...

I really don't know, but i think its a 700r4. THe 2500 version got the 4l80e w/ standalone computer......but i never heard anyhtign special about the 1500.

THats my guess, lets see what others say....cause i have no proof.

Ok, so just a 700R4.

My plans would be to use the '91 nose clip on my '81 Crew Cab.

Use the NP241 behind a TH350 tranny for the "Swamp Thing" project, since 241's are supposed to be a bit stronger than a 208.

Use the visor on my red '78.

Then part out the rest.
