1993 3/4 Ton Suburban Build (Solid Axle Swap)

plus you still have to deal with those heavy ass hummer beadlocks that will probably leak at some point. Your better off going SRW hubs and finding some cheap 17's to run 35's on.

He just needs to man up and run 37s

Nah, going 37's on this thing will make it less usable as a backup tow rig and really wouldn't net me anything over 35's for how I want to use the vehicle off-road (the type of trails I'll take this on, 37's wouldn't even be needed). So 35's is the magic number I have thought about for this rig. Will make it usable in many different areas for me.

My thoughts exactly. Then I could swap tires back and forth between the Burban an my Crew Cab...which would be nice

Maybe go with a 17" or 18" wheel. I've heard 16"s are getting harder to find even but I have yet to have any issues.

Last weekend I ended up picking up a 14bff mainly cause it was so freaking cheap I couldnt say no. The other reason why I got it is because this one has 4.10’s in it. My thought is I can now at least put 4.10’s in the rear of the burb to make it match the ford d60 to have matching gears for a while until i do 4.56’s down the road.

Other than that just been driving the thing and planning things out

Still looking for d50 ttb hubs?
this is local to me if you need to arrange something

Yes still looking. That add says its a dana 44 though. IIRC they did make a d44 ttb axle as well and those hubs are different from the d50 ttb hubs (which were identical to the d60 srw hubs). So I don't think that will work...unless I'm thinking about it wrong?? And how can you tell if it's a d50 ttb or a d44 ttb axle? Are the "pumpkin's" different? Cause that is a pretty good deal and would be nice if I can actually use those hubs

The pumpkin is the same, both are d44.
The hubs are different and you can tell real quick

Yeah that guy is just wrong in his add calling it a Dana 44. That should definitely be a Dana 50. That should be all that ever came in a TTB F250. The Dana 44 would have been 6 lug in the coil sprung F150.

Actually the TTB 50 didn’t start until like 90 or 91. Quite a few diesel and big block F250’s out there with D44 TTB’s. My friend actually has two of them sitting around. Don’t forgot the F150 was still 5x5.5 ;)

Edit- the D50 TTB did exist in 1980 but was only used on the F350’s as the Dana 60 wasn’t an option from 80-85

Gonna guess based on the ad and this picture it’s a d50.

Yeah, I think you guys are correct, I too think that is actually a d50 ttb axle. Anyone in the SLC area want to go pick that up for me? ;)

I’ll be going to Utah in December (hopefully) to pick up a burb from Keith, if you can’t find hubs by then I could likely track something down and bring with. They’ll atleast be somewhat close
