1993 3/4 Ton Suburban Build (Solid Axle Swap)

Im ready to see this thing set up. Actually picking up the front axle for mine today.

what spring height and tire size were you shooting for again?

Shooting for ~5” of lift (sas has 3” lift, then 2” springs front, 4” shackle flip with an EZ inch rear) and some 35” tires
Man, your truck is going to sit almost the exact height of mine. That's the same setup minus the easy inch, and I have that to put in mine still. Lol

I don't want to get too crazy with this one cause it's going to see a lot more street time. This was, at least in my mind, the best all around setup for this burb to be able to still go down the road real nice (especially if my wife is gonna drive it a bunch too), but have just enough clearance to be able to take it on some mild trails and mountain roads. Honestly, this thing is probably going to be my new snow wheeling rig. With as much seating as I have, rear heat, and a flip down TV for the kids...it should make snow wheeling a real fun event for the whole family :waytogo:. I keep having the tendency to go bigger on the tire size to a 37 or something like that...but I have to remind myself that I still really want to use it to tow some smaller stuff like a boat, and I know the wife isn't going to want to drive it much if it's too big. So 35's is the magic number for me. Plus, I already have a blazer on 42's with a built tow rig for the harder stuff.

There is always the option of having a set of 37's that you throw on for when you know you would need them for a trail. I've had the same thought with 35's for mine, for when I go out for some trail riding with just my diesel.

My ferd on a 4" lift and 285s does great all around everywhere except for rock crawling which it can't do anyway. I can clear 315s but then it's too tall for my trailer. Plus I have tire chain clearance.

Ready to see where it sits on the 35’s. I’m really back and forth between 37’s on 6-7” of lift and 35’s on 5”. A lot in the same situation as you, I’d like to be able to use if for boat or camper pulling and keep the larger tire setup for the k30

100% the worst part of the swap! Now is a good time to trim up the front crossmember while everything is out of the way. Here is the one I did a few years ago for inspiration.

Bitchin ride man :waytogo:. Mine won't be quite that clean, but the burb is already in pretty darn good shape. It's clean enough that it'll look good going down the road, but not too clean to where I won't feel bad about running tree branches down the side of it....so just my style, haha
