1993 3/4 Ton Suburban Build (Solid Axle Swap)

I can’t say what I want to say. Lol

I’m finding myself doing that more as I get older.

The term OBS stands for “old body style”. It refers to the 88-98 gmt400 platform.

You can pm me.

You know that those trucks are 20 years old now, and now that on the verge of 2019 new trucks, so wouldn't a OBS be a 2018?

It gets utterly ridiculous what they keep calling them.
99-02 is “new body style”
03-07 classic is “new body style” or “cat eye”
08-13 is new new body style lol

And then I get lost after that.

Registered it on Friday, put it to work on Saturday, haha. Went a picked up a vehicle my dad just bought for my mom. The old TBI454 doesnt do too bad. Its no horsepower monster, but it gets the job done

Fair. I won't argue with "want".
I'll shut up now. Just here for the ride.
Ok I came here late enough I will say the same thing.
I don't think you need to sas, but if you want to go for it.
D44 would be plenty for the job, so unless you find a cheap d60 to fit the bill d44 it is

I am considering doing a 4x4 conversion on my full size van and I really want to do an IFS.
It will be a little different, custom A arms and maybe dual coils fore and aft of the cv shaft.
It would be easier to just throw a straight axle with leaf springs but it will be too high.
Hijack off.
Sorry
Looking good so far and I agree with the hub caps thing.
I still have them on my suburban as well as the steps because I haven't started anything on it yet.
They will be going for sale once I do

Nice score, those are becoming very hard to find.

Agreed. That's why when Dan (@85k5witha6.2) had one for a reasonable price, I jumped on it. It's an 89, so has king pins which makes steering easier and it has dually hubs, so need to swap to SRW and it has 4.10 gears. I'm thinking I may go 4.56 gears on this one in the end.

What tire size are you shooting for again?

I want 35's on this thing. I was thinking it would be a good middle ground size to allow me to still have some ground clearance for the mild trails/hunting it will see, but not too tall so the wife can get in and drive it whenever she wants. And if I want 35's but still have it be a functional extra tow rig, I was thinking 4.56's would be a must to still have some ok gearing to help out the TBI 454

or 4.88's for the grunt. With the bigger diffs 35's are pretty much a minimum IMO.

It’s too bad my 78 Ford 60 has the stupid 1/2 lug studs and we’re halfway across the country from each other id trade for your dual wheel stuff.

You should find some Humvee wheels and keep the dually stuff. Although I’m not sure what you do to a 14 bolt to make it wider.

I had the same thoughts.

I have a guy that will build those spacers that I put on my K5.

I thought about it too, but then I'm stuck with 16.5 rim size, which everyone knows is limited. If I was going to put 37's on this truck then I would probably do that, but I don't want to go that tall of a tire on this thing. I want max 35's. So it's probably worth it to just swap to SRW hubs and be done with it. Then just run a 16" rim and have any tire make I want to choose from
