little update for yall. pretty much have the frame ready for some sandblasting and paint. shock mounts and tabs are tacked on and ready to be welded up and i managed to locate a set of 38.5 hawgs to mount up as rollers on my h1's until the truck is done and i coin up for some bigger meats.

starting the search for a big block to build and set up on 'pane

Thats exactly what I am doing for my rear hangers. I have it drawn up on a napkin haha

i fixed my shock angle, i knocked off the stock shock mounts on the axle and fabbed some tabs, much much better.

Naaaah. It'll run lke that. Haha I had to pull the stock steering arm
Off for the time being, found out the kingpins are good but the springs and bushings didn't look so great. That bushing that's pulled out came out in two halves. Someone got rough on it.

Nice cant wait to see the finished product. Looking at the back ground looks like so. Texas.

do believe we found ourselves a donor 454. 86 model that a guy is willing to let me take for a very low price. plans are to refurb it and add a cam and bump compression enough to have a good solid big block on propane.

should be interesting, my father is more the motor nut than myself so im hoping for a good learning experience.

weather is finally cooperating so progress is gonna start picking up. here's a pic of the donor truck we are snagging the 454 out of. for anyone thats interested, the guy is gonna scrap the truck so any parts you may need you may be able to get really cheap. just pm me and ill take em for you.

its gotta homemade front and rear bumpers and a decently built wood floor flatbed on it. the tranny he wants to keep, the rear end, springs, hangers and steering box are all there. body panels, mirrors, interior with power windows, decent grillle, good practically new looking front headlights.

edit: dang i forgot to add. checked my 60 the other day...has spicers stock.

spicers yum

just a little thread bump. nothing spectacular to report just yet....i got all the electrical torn out and the 454 is being built up as we speak. got to work tearing the d60 apart and rebuilding it aswell...

managed to pick up a detriot for it and will be ordering springless steering arms and some various shackles for the suspension later one....a few touch up welds on the frame and hangers and the frame will basically be complete and ready for some paint.

those tires are 38" hawgs but they only measure out around 36".....so its looking good that 44's or 42's will fit pretty good on the truck....once its all done i want to dial the suspension in as low as possible.

This past week I dropped the stripped down 60 off with an aquantence, he had it setup with the Detroit and a new 1350 parts mike yoke and I picked it back up Thursday. Today we got the tranny dropped off for a rebuild, so it should be ready by around Tuesday.

All my main parts for my steeringare in as well.

Had Psc overhaul and tap the box for future hydro assist. And caught the cyber Monday sell at WFO for all the rest.

-Hd springless arm and cap
- one ton tre's and a set of dre's for the drag link.
- drag link is 1.5 wall dom. Tie rod will be as well, but it's heavy walled.

Also have new poly body mounts on the way as well and still waiting on the back ordered d60 outer tube seals.

I'm hoping to get the frame outside and ready for blasting and paint this coming week.

Only variation right now is that Ive decided to go with ORD and order up a 241/205 doubler. Just searching for a driver drop 241 at the moment, shouldn't be an issue.

well, i was itching to tinker this evening but didnt really feel much up to welding up any crossmember or tearing apart the 205 or even re-assembling the 60. (i know, im a lazy **** at times)
So me and a bud decided to go do a bit of junkyard rummaging. I didnt find everything i was hunting down but i did pull three xj steering shafts and kept the better two and now I got myself a bit of an upgrade to the Bull**** rag joints aswell as a back up for the trail. Only 20 bucks.

This is a comparison of the two. xj shaft bottom and stock 94 shaft at the top.

Close up of the joints at the steering box. xj left, stock 94 at right.

and heres a few closeup of the each of the ends.

All you gotta do is apply some heat here:

and the plastic inside will melt away and you can seperate the two halves.
clean up the shaft then you can re-insert and compress and extend as needed to fit.
(yeah yeah i know, the work bench is a complete mess.....**** everywhere)
Pretty simple upgrade and the only thing you really have to do is notch a small place on the GM column so you can thread the xj shaft set bolt all the way through and it will hold.
OR
It also looks like you could possibly just mark the XJ jont head and tap all the way through it and use the GM bolt to mount it more like the factory shaft was.

Yeah. Junk clutters up fast when your just grabbing tools and then droppin em and grabbing the next one, sad thing is if me or someone else cleans up I can't find anything.
