1995 Tahoe "build" thread. *new question post 68*

$132 for stainless direct fit headers? Probably wont get them, but might be worth getting them and doing the ultimate TBI mods. Probably could pick up a a few hp and may an mpg or two.

those are the headers recommended by brian at tbichips.com.
he said bang for buck he has recommended them to hundreds of guys with no bad comments so far.
Who makes the headers?

I bought a set of Pacesetters from Summit for my F-150 that were VERY well recomended on a ford forum. They fit like complete ****. They were supposed to be a complete bolt on, and the Y pipe was nowhere near close to lining up, and the socket end on the headers was 2.25" VS 2" on the Y pipe. Knowing what I know now I wouldve just gone with Hooker longtubes, and still might after the engine gets built.

I even wrote Summit an email about it. I doubt they changed anything, but they did send me a $25 gift card.
another thumbs down for pacesetter. a buddy got a set of theirs for his toyota. same deal. also from summit actually.

Has to do with the wheel well being in the way...
huh. i always thought that was somekind of child safety feature or something.

Actually they are a little bit, but in that pic the door just isnt shut so the pic makes it look bad. I just cant believe gm couldnt redesign stuff just a little bit to make them go at least 3/4 down!

thats why black ones are the choice of drug dealers/mafia bosses/ and swat teams every where. no one can see your faces!! yes i understand tint does that too.

I just dont get why they didnt do somethingvlike on the square body burbs and crews where the back 1/4 or so of tye window stays in place and allows just the front portion to go down. Or just re shape the door opening a little bit to get it to go at least 1/2 way down. Oh well. It will be good for the dogs back there i guess...

You can see in this pic why it would only go down that far,

But you can see in this pic that they could have tried a little harder to get it to down at least a little bit more.

Oh well... I wont be sitting back there.

But i did get something done today! Got the mirror switch in! Looks good, works, and only took about 5 min to install. I really like working on this truck so far!

I've noticed that the same generation Ford Expedition has a split window, and I think the track from that might work if I could get a company to cut me a couple pieces of glass to make it work, it could be done. Even if it goes down only 3/4 of the way, it's still far better than 1/4 of the way.

No kidding. I thought the same thing about modifying it to split like that. Still just blows my mind that they would let that fly.

Ok, i just had my million dollar idea. Im going to create and market A fking conversion kit for the back window! Its going to have the stationary portion at the rear. And it will be awesome! And probably fairly cheap. Cheap enough that EVERYONE with an obs tahoe/yukon will buy it!

Cool! Im going to buy a rear door and molest it until it behaves the way i want it too! I feel like i might even already have a plan. Which will surely change when i try it...

Im going to do it just like they did on the square burbs,

I googled it and couldnt come up with anything . :dunno: Seemed like a safe neighborhood... Them hoes is bout to get molestered.

I'll hate you if you do this first, as I thought of this many much moons ago but have never had the time or resources or funds to do it. But I'll still buy a kit from you if you do it.

Crap I need to check my nbs Tahoe to see if the rear Windows actually go down all the way :screwy:

They dont. I checked. I wondered if they had fixed the problem and they havent. I guess the nbs ones do go down about half way tho...

I know the nbs burb I looked at the rear Windows went down all the way. I just never checked out the Tahoe as fully because when I saw it I knew I couldn't pass up that kind of deal.
