Just had replaced hydraboost unit, power steering pump and all hoses plus new radiator and steering gear box.. $$. Does the brake pedal have a certain foot pressure point to activate the "boost" as normal in town and highway driving reminds me of my 60 D100 half ton. The anti-lock dash light stays lit so I believe it is inop but I don't mind except it might be the source of what works and how well. Thanks for any help or suggestions. 2CAV

Did you put a new hydraboost unit?
Is the accumulator charged?
I have had some issues with those things, sometimes it was bad parts.
It shouldn't need anything special, it should work

It's a new hydraulic unit. But the garage installed all components i mentioned. I had the Van on an open road up to seventy and did a partial lockup of the rear wheels. It performed as expected and started to swap ends as the anti-lock is inop. No load back there so of course it wants to pivot. The pedal is progressive and firm/predictable. Front-end alignment is good. Only wetness/ leaks are a drop at the front mainseal which i will keep watching for now and a weep of anti-freeze at radiator lower hose and now tightened. No loss or leaks at all of hydraulic fluid. Yay. But. They put the wrong new belt size in. A wrench to the idler pulley doesn't give the belt enough slack to remove it and it is fraying at belts rear edge. I will call them but I will also match the original belt to be replaced . Any sites to explain/instruct the hydraboost details and 'charging' ? Thanks for your help. 2Cav
