There is a loud sound coming from the back of the burb. Like a solid high pitched whine. Happens as soon as you turn it on. Someone told me they thought it was the fuel pump. Does this sound right? If so does that mean its about to die? I wanna know for sure before i pull it out and replace it, they are like $240 bucks... thats money i could spend on my blazer:-)

Was it quiet before, and it's now getting loud? or has it been loud all this time and you're curious? It is the fuel pump and GM pumps are known to be noisy, at least the 90's. My 99 Yukon had a loud pump until I replaced it with a $350 pump. The new one was quieter by a long shot.

It has been this way since we have owned it. Does it mean its going to die? Or is it just loud?

Just loud. How many miles on your rig? They seem to fail about 10 years or 120,000 miles, mine failed at both, but my parents old 98 hasn't failed yet with 150k on it.

That pump is living on borrowed time, unless it was replaced previously.

Yeah thats what im wondering... If it was replaced before or not. Its either just a loud pump, or one getting ready to take a ****... Good thing we have AAA.

Mhy buddy has a later model chevy truck and that pump is loud as hell.
