My '72 Blazer, small block automatic, has sat for a while and I found that the stock 4x4 shifter will not move. I looked at the stock locking hubs and they will not turn out of the "locked" mode.

I put the tranny in neutral and tried to move the shifter with no results. Should I use more muscle and attempt to force the shifter in to 2HI?

I opened up one hub to see if I could move the locking mechanism in case the locking dial was stuck. Nope...won't budge.

HELP!!!!!!

Thanks...Rick

I would try backing up slow while trying to shift it out of 4, thats how I get mine to work. That might free up the hubs too

jack it up so the front tires are off the ground, then try to disengage....then lube everything

I'll put all four corners on jack stands tommorrow morning to take any pressure off the drive train and see if anything loosens up. I'll also spray some rustfree on the shifter linkage.

I'll let you guy's know what happens.

Thanks...Rick
