Grandpa’s Blazer gettin fixed up…

Papa is fixing up grandpa’s ole Blazer
Who is a reputable source for the seal and gasket kit for NP203?

Most of the 4x4 transmissions are open in the back. One seal keeps oil in the trans, the other keeps oil in the T-case.

Ok block is cleaned and being rebuilt. Stock reworked heads, cyl bored 30 over 224 roller cam just picked up Edelbrock EPS Performer 180 thermostat intake snout aluminum w optional sensor pre tapped

No cracks on heads so happy there. Only had 91k miles.

I plan to clean up casting imperfections on intake before installing.

Going w MSD setup and run Edelbrock carb since in FL no choke.

Any recommendation on carb or tips and tricks as assemble out from long block? I’m newb so please use small words.

Thank you. I do like Off-road design.

I found a local dealer in Sebring FL. Cobra Transmission. Complete kit with seals $29. Plus shipping.
Great price. Be careful when you pull it apart, there are a bunch of loose roller bearings in the main shaft. Guys were having trouble finding a replacement source for them.

Since the old application was two seals. The kit I bought has a single seal. Is this correct placement for the way it faces?

FYI

O ring. Locally available at Orileys if you need it. Seal for transfer case to trans adapter plate.

Under 10$

Thought I would paint the fire wall before bolting cab on and dropping in the motor. So I am using Upol filler and high build primer. Will sand this down and use some Duplicolor GM blue. Fingers crossed it finishes well.

Pole question on carbs.

Running 400sbc .030 over 10:1
Stock heads reworked
224 roller cam
Edelbrock EPS Performer intake
MSD setup w distributor

Which carb is recommended for a pavement princess

Engine builder likes Holley locals like Edelbrock here are two recommended.

IDK

Recommendations so far are

For ease of use, tuning or cleaning bowls if crap gets in them they say go Holley.

Edelbrock AVS2(750 cfm) or

Holley 4150. 0-82751sa (650cfm)

With Holley carb use Holley red pump 7lb setting or 5-5.5lb if use Edelbrock carb.

600 cfm edelbrock is a very good carb. Definitly do not need a 750.

Out of the box, easy to tune and stays in tune, crisp response. Edlebroken gets my vote based on past experience. For a 400 a 650 or even a 750 is fine. I'd like to give the AVS2 the nod, but a simple 1406 is hard to go wrong with.

For max power, Holley 4150 hands down. Expect to have to fock with it often (in my experience).

I have a 4150 Holley going on my mildish 350 here soon. Vac secondary 750. Is it the best? Nope, but I have it on hand and sometimes that makes the decision for you. :waytogo:

Happy Father’s Day to me. She is back one the ground. Just need a 1/8” shift of cab towards rear and bolt her up…

I now know the value of a lift for this process and having help. Not easy alone nor as lowering bottle jacks and removing blocking an inch or two at a time…
