Ya it looked identical to the steel one except for the shorter fill neck. Polyethelane will expand and retract with hot or cold days so I think, ouch, the expansion is what caused the o-ring at the sending unit to fail as the top of the tank looked to be bulging upward when it started leaking fuel out the top. Think of thoes little red gas cans made of plastic, set it in the sun and watch it bulge out
I live in the central valley here in Cali and we get 100+ temps all summer long, this year has been cooler but you get the idea of what i'm saying right?
So my overall impression of the Poly tanks...sounds like a rust free soulution but not too sure about how well they can hold true to their shape over long periods of time... I used the need for more fuel capacity to justify getting rid of the one I had otherwise I would have probly changed the O-ring and kept running it...
