Before all of you bash me, I'm sorry for asking a question you experienced guys have probably answered 100 times before.. But I'd rather know what to expect before dropping cash on parts that won't work for me! & Before any of you try to talk me into 15x8's, I'm dead set on 15x10's. This truck is by all means a mall crawler...:D And I love the way deep dish wheels look..

But anyways, I'm wanting to run 15x10's with a 3.5 backspace. Along with some 33x12.5 tires on my 87 K5.. My question is, will I clear these tires with a 2" ORD shackle flip, or should I go with a 3"?(Or possibly a touch smaller tire?)

My truck is relatively rust free (which is rare for a Missouri truck) so trimming is pretty much out of the question. I just want it to have a nice stocky stance without destroying my fenders.

Thanks for the help!

I can't answer your entire question, but I can tell you that my truck with fresh 3" tuff country fronts and a ORD's .250 thick 1" relocation plates (toward the front) rubs the front edge of the front wheelwell on every bump or right turn with 16x10 & well worn 315/75R16s.

& This is why I'm so torn on this question and decided to ask. I research a lot, but always find multiple answers to a single question..

For example

I had 33x12.5s on 15x10x3.75bs wheels on my suburban with a 3" all spring lift. Axles in stock location. I didn't really ever have a rubbing issue.

That said, when I installed it all I bent up, the little bit of the fender behind the tire at the very bottom of the wheel well. There's a spot about an inch wide where it meets the inner fender. I used a rubber mallet to slowly bend the last 3" of that section up flat against the inner fender..... I'm not sure if I needed to..? But I did and never had rubbing that I remember.

According to my calculator, a 315/75 comes out to be a 34.6/12.4 standard. Hmmm... So you may be a little bigger than a 33/12.50 will be on a 10" wheel already... But thanks for the input!

& What all did you have to tamper with going to a 3"? As in did you have to mess with brake lines, driveline angles, steering, etc?

I'd rather stay with as little as a lift as possible, but a 3" isn't out of the question..

I went back through my thread and I did have to massage them bottom inner lips. It would have rubbed if I hadn't. But mine was also a 99% rust free truck. And bending those didn't change that.

3" I did the brake lines and a homemade set of swaybar extension things nearly identical to ORDs disconnects. That was it.

&Thats the spot I'm concerned about....:doah:At full lock, my stock 31's (which actually run a little small and come out to be 29's) come somewhat close to the back of my fenders already.. This is frustrating.....:weapon10:

I'll go back and see if I can find it! & I know, I'm just really anal about body modifications.. would rather avoid them at all cost, but may be handcuffed:dunno:

This one you can see it almost hitting. And the next one is hard to see but it's after just bending it up against the inner fender

That's all the pics I had in my thread and never showed or talked about it really

I like the look of 15x10's also for a mall-crawler. You should be okay with that tire and wheel setup if you keep the swaybar connected and don't do any serious flexing. Back in the day I had 15x10's with 3.75" BS on 32x11.50 tires on a '90 with stock suspension. Never had any rubbing that I noticed during normal driving but it was close, so you should be okay with the 2" lift. However it wouldn't be a bad idea to do the very minor tweaks mentioned below. I understand you not wanting to do any modification but doing some very minor bending/tweaking that would never be noticed by average person is well worth it in the end. That tire and lift combination will look good (probably what I would go with if I ever had the time and money to get a mall crawler/daily driver K5) and the slight tweaks would prevent either tearing up the tire or mangling the whole fender if something unexpected ever happened.

You're probably going to rub w/ 3.5" BS, depends on the exact diameter of the tire. Most run a little small, some smaller than others. Going to 3.75" BS can make a lot of difference for fitment. Just remember we're dealing w/ the arc that the tire swings when it's turned. You're increasing the radius of that arc w/ a wider tread, wheel width and BS. You're best bet is to borrow a tire from someone who's running the combo you want and throw it on the truck to measure.

I’ve got 33x12.5’s on mine at stock height and the front rubs every once in a while at odd angles when I turn but I also have worn out shocks and springs.

When I had 33s and stock springs, only rubbed round town on sharp turns into a parking lot.

Back when I had a square, I couldn't run a 33 on stock 8" rally or it would have ripped the fender off or slice the tire. No two trucks are the same, but in edjamakated guess your gonna need at least 2" with at least 4" b/s to run em, but will still have the deep dish your looking for.

Hmmmm, I wonder how a 32x11.50 would look on 15x10's with a 2" lift as @6.2Blazer just mentioned... Got me thinking now..... Just don't want them to look too small..

Yes! My plan for this truck is a modernized 80's look if that make any sense at all. Old school, but not overkill.. And I've also always loved the way 15x10's looked! I wouldn't mind very mild trail riding, but nothing nasty.. All my buddy's bash me on how much I baby this thing, but I love theses trucks..... so....:flipoff11:

& I may also buy larger bump stops if it does get too close for comfort

I may certainly have to look into that. & Those are some very valid points.. I wonder if bumping down to 32x11.50's with the 2" could help me out as I previously stated? & I wish other CK5'ers lived in the STL area! You don't see these old girls very often around here.
