I'm on my second '86 K5 and one of the first things I noticed about this one is the seats are the later design like an '87 or '88. My first '86 had the seats like an '84/'85. Has anyone else seen this on the '86's? Was this a mid-year change or something?

Also, does anyone know where I can get new cushions and upholstery for the later seat design? LMC seems to only sell the earlier design.

Thanks,
Rob

Well first question you kinda answered yourself. I have had three '86s and yes they were different, so I can only guess mid to late production change up. More than likely they ran out of the early style and rushed the newer design in the last run of '86s?
And as for seat covers, I was going to use these guys but I had super nice seats fall in my lap.

They did make a late year change in the seats, that was one of the reasons I ordered mine when I did.
As for the set foam you will probably have to find an upholstery guy that can rebuild them.
I did order some from Classic Industry, but they didn't match the factory one and looked cheaply made so I sent them back. Ordered material and had mine recovered

thanks for the replies guys! that's what I suspected - a mid-year change. When I first looked at this Blazer, I thought someone had swapped the seats. Now it makes sense. And thanks for the links. I don't know if I'll ever get around to recovering the seats or not and I'm not sure that's the direction I want to go with this rig. Still have a LOT to do before I spend any $$ on cosmetic stuff.

And Teck - that is a REALLY nice looking rig!

I meant to steer you to Teck's interior. Super sano job.
Gotta be the nicest stock re-do I've seen in any K5.
If you look at the link I gave you for the covers, you can see there is a ton of work besides just pulling them off and putting them on. You need somebody who is a master with spray glue and hog rings.

Those are not badly priced if they match the original ones. I did pay more then that just for the material.
You do have to steam the old ones to save the cushion. Then glue the center section down to get the pellets back in it correctly. The guy I had do them is a pro (does this for a living) said they where a B to do and get right.
