2" Tuff Country or 2.5" Skyjacker? Anyone running either?

I pick up my 33" MT/R's tomorrow and need to get my lift going ASAP. The ole girl is my daily driver/camp rig/ Jenny Creek style trail rig.

The goal is to have a well behaved street K5 while still being modestly capable on Colorado trails.

I hear tons of positives about Tuff County lifts, but usually only 4". I don't want that much. My concern is that a soft spring 2" lift is going to give me clearance issues w/33's. Would a Skyjacker 2.5" be better?

I don't want to have to buy this lift twice. Your help and comments would be greatly appreciated!

TIA

Jim

It doesn't sound like a bad plan....maybe start with those 2" springs and evaluate if you need a little more clearance or not.

If you do, you can add a 1" zero-rate to get a bit more clearance.

Adding a 1" body lift would be another option if those Tuff Country springs came up short on lift/clearance.

A buddy of mine with a 70 C30 converted to 4wd has a set of the Tuff Country 2" springs on it. He is very happy with their ride. They have just a bit of positive arch, probably just a bit more than the amount of negative arch that a stock spring has.

Here are a few pics of his truck, it is a 1 ton frame so keep that in mind when you are looking at the height. He also has about 3/4" to 1" of body lift.

I really like my Tuff Country springs. Then again they are 5". I think 4inch is not too much since the do settle about an inch or so over time.

I'm running 33's with a 4" lift and there's plenty of room. Unless your really stuffing the tires hard, you'll probably be ok.

Well, I run 32x11.50R15 Goodyear MT/Rs on stock suspension. Only at full-lock right do I have any rubbing issues and that is with the pitman arm on the steering box. You should be fine with a 2.5" lift to clear the 33s. I am planning on doing a 2.5" Skyjacker this year on mine but keeping the tires I already have.

I picked up my tires and lift today. 285/75/16's and a Skyjacker 2.5" lift. Nothing radical at all. My ORD shackles should show up tomorrow. Those are some good people!!!

After spending 2+ hours plasma cutting the frozen bolts/bushings/sleeves/shackles off the Blazer, I suddenly realized I would have to replace them. I called up ORD and they made it happen with next day shipping on a Saturday!!

Can't wait until tomorrow.

(suggestions on budget/quality shocks?)
