got the front end almost done .

still need to install the tie rod ends. and the springs that got painted today .

then i need to make a new crossmember for the front of the frame were it was all messed up from previus owner tow job. :doah: i will make a steering box brace for it also at the same time to tie it all in .

then for test fitting / mock up and easy roll around i threw in the rear end today . also needed the weight on the back of the frame . all the front end stuff going on make it real heavy and tipping on the lift.

had the lift down with weight on back of truck and boy does it flex threw the range of motion better now over the rubber bushing stuff back when it was all orignal . should ride real nice. :thumb:

got the new to truck front cross member inplace today .

just had to make it a little more like 4wd and k30ish .

used a extra 4wd front cross member from a k30 i got in stock.

figured the 4wd one is a LOT stronger than the 2wd flimsy unit. also it was in stock and all i had to do was place it were i wanted it just a bit forward of stock location and drill 4 holes in it and trim down the overall width 1/2" it fight right in . :thumb:

looking good Brett, the K30 crossmember won't interfere with anything to be added later will it?

What did you do for front springs? keeping the stockers and stock height, cutting them down, replacement????

I would like to find a set of new C30 springs for my CC...seems the 454/air/CC/etc has made them sag a little over the 35 years they've been in there.

any old part store get you new pair of front springs.

and all stock for me except 2.5" drop spindles. and rear hangers up 2" and 1" longer rear shackles for .5" drop to add up to 2.5 in rear also.

did you do any checking into baggin' it?

cant wait to smoke'em up my self also.

also cant wait to drive it.

and zimmer i didnt wana go show truck crazy stuff. this is just a daily driver use for me. and figure bolt on a drop of 2.5" that way i got money in lowering it. lot less tempted to rais and 4x4 swap it. :haha:

got the gas tank brackets ready today . welded the nuts on them as thay were replacments and didnt have them . make my re assemble go faster. just have to clean up a bit and paint to match the frame.

also going to clean and paint the tank.

going to put one on pass side also to have 30 gal total capacity. and the box i got for the truck has both fuel doors.

now i can run fuel lines and brake lines together along with wires to the rear. going to swap the brake and fuel lines to driver side for shorter lines / less work / cleaner install. 5.3 motor has driver side line ports on the fuel rail anyways.

got the gas tank brackets painted and bolted on today .

also still waiting on dirty dingo mounts to come back from them . after blasting last week in prep for paint i found some cold welds on them that didnt make me cumffy . called them up and thay said no problem ship back and thay same day recive turn around new set and cover my return shipping .

then i will be bolting in the motor / tranny and fabbing up a cross member for tranny . then some more work for rolling frame complete. and off to body prep and paint next.

well i got screwed on a part thats holding me up now. ( story later )

did get the update on the ford 9" . he cant find me a good ratio 3rd member to get me 4.50 or better. so he maned up and gave me full refund cash . :waytogo:

then i need to use my 3.08 10 bolt or find somthing. as the whipped 2.73 rear is junk under it now.

i do have a line on a early 70's dana 60 sf 5 lug rear tho from a ih travall ( suburban ) truck. has 3.55 gears with CLEAN oil and trac loc posi . if need be i will use this . but my 1 local friend has few 1/2 ton axle in stock we will go threw sunday and see what we find.

did get another gauge for the dash today . and ordered the metric adaptors for the h20 temp / oil psi senders to block .

then i need second set of tank brackets for pass side . but cant get them off my plow truck pass tank i dont use. reason why i put flatbed dump electric pump/tank in the way years ago and its covering up the bolts. :doah:

i CANT win :dunno:

3.55's wouldnt be that bad, you will have a good HP and torque to make up for it some.

3.90's to a 4.10 would be my choice with an OD trans though, and my plan for my ford two wheeler.

ya 3.50 was my good sweet spot if used rear . but if going new parts ( dont have cash for now ) would be 3.73 or 4.10 .

more i think about the dana 60 . . . needs brakes = hard to find parts that year of ih stuff and still 5x5.5 pattern.

going to buddys sunday as i said i think he has somthing .

also i did get a new pump/resivor for the motor to get me a 3 hose setup for the swaped in hydro boost brakes.

just getting so sick of people laying / selling crap / dont stand behind there word. :angry1:

Seems like that axle would be pretty hard to find parts for, especially seals maybe. May even use a different ring and pinion. I bet the axle shaft diameter is different than an 8 lug D60 rear. I know that muscle cars guys used to want those 5 lug D60s. They came in Dodge V8 cars like the Cuda in the early '70s too.
