2 wheel peel / rebirth of a short bed c-10

him and i have talked before in his vendor thread. unless things have changed he cant make with out a/c holes / upper cubby hole and blank the heater -radio area out.

Isn't that what this is? I thought he carried the same brand?

And doing what I was saying wouldn't require the heater or radio area. Just the area where there could be AC vents.

well found a 255/70/15 bfg radial t/a like new last night on craigslist for $40 bucks :eek1:

so i dug 1 of 5 rims i have from a 80's 2wd truck i parted out years ago to mount the tire on for test fitting and to see if i like the size on the truck .

well let this be a lesson to others. . . . check your rims in storage . i found i have atleast 1 if not all 5 8" wide factory ralley rims for a 2wd chevy truck. most 2wd i have seen are 7" wide and not the 8" harder to find ones.

if the rest turn out to be the 8" wide also i will get them blasted and painted white and install them on this 2wd truck .

Ralley wheels? Are you going to run center caps and trim rings?

Every 2wd I seem to find or see are the 8's. I only have one set of 7's, and I hardly see them on other trucks. Maybe its location?

I think the ones I mainly encounter are the 7s. You know you're supposed to measure the distance between the beads only right? :D

Seriously, I think that trucks that originally came with 235 size tires had the 15x7s and the ones that were equipped with 31x10.50s had the 15x8s. Or that could nothing to do with it at all. :dunno: Who knows?

my 83 is a factory 235 truck with 8s and a factory 8 spare.

Hmmmm... My '85 had 235s and 15x7s according to the label on the door frame. I wonder if it has to do with the years.

yes i know how to measure rims. . . . 15+ years as auto mechanic / tire guy for first 10 of them. :D

ya the 255 is 29.1" tall and fatter than 235 tire. so it gives me a fuller wheel well and fatter foot print.

and now i need some trim rings and good center caps. :doah:

got some work done friday on truck.

gm orignal core support for 89-91 style nose droped off at media blaster for full strip. then i need to fix few spots on it.

next was strip rear bumper for polish up of chrome finish and install of new inner brackets to convert from burban to pickup use.

then strip 2 fronts each had good brackets just not both sets on 1 bumper. then picked out good front bumper . going to install a 4" or 5" non tow hook hole lower valance to give it a even lower look .

getting ready to finish sanding and start filling the small dents and such on the box. and hope to have all in primer/paint soon. get this thing back on track.

got the bumper brackets down to the media blaster today to toss in when thay do the core support.

got more of the box sanded today top rails and some seam sealer out that was dryed out and severe cracking possible water in point.

even got the 2 doors stripped down 100% today so we can sand/ prep them for full repaint.

got the core support back from the blaster the other day .

today i took a few min and cut out the 2 bad spots and dug out the doner / old std 2 head light so i can use it for repair parts.

bumper brackets also come back and look super. got primer on them and just need to get core support fixed then all will get frame paint.

well after looking and asking here ( http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=303424 ) i decided to make my own out of a almost brand new one i had from collecting stuff.

so i got the hitch to work and cut/ground the end plates off to give me a good starting point. also found it wasnt a reese brand hitch. it was some sort of ford factory hitch i dont recall what it come off of. but its not ford anymore. :D

last pic is basicly how i will make my own to look like.
