2 wheel peel / rebirth of a short bed c-10

Look'n good!:waytogo:
I like it lots!:thumb:

Just me but I like the flat nose round head light trucks as 4x4s and the 81 plus slope nose as lower 2x4s!:dunno: JMO

i was going to run the 88-up sport/ss wheels but now i found i have a set of 8" wide ralleys for our trucks body style. going to blast them and powder coat white . should look good with the blue/white paint job.

here is the wheel / tire combo i want to run.

15x8" ralleys redone in bright white. center caps only no trim rings.

then bfg radial t/a 255/70/15 = 29.1 tall / tread width 7.8" / and section width of 10.2" . good meaty tire on the 8" rim with out looking to goofy i think.

stock on this v6 truck orignal was 225/70/15 @ 27.0-27.75 tall / and 5.5-6.0" tread width .

my tire with 2.5" lower all around truck will fill it in just right . i happen to see a stock 2wd going the other way today in town and it looked goofy if you ask me with baby tires on it.

and if you recall my tear down picks here show it together with 31" tires. it fills in good with these now for roll around .

That's going to be an awesome ride!!! I think you're really going to like that 5.3, I'm really enjoying the 5.3 in my silverado. I like the stance you went with, the truck looks good, and you can still drive it normally without worrying about every bump, pothole, and parking lot entrance destroying the thing. Keep it up, and love the progress pics!

well got my info needed the other day to make new side plates for the hitch . and i droped it off at the fab shop for cut /bend . recived call friday its done and ready to pick up.

also got little boared this sat morning so i went in and blasted up all the head light buckets and trims with the rear plate light also to get them ready for black paint and silver on the plate light.

i also rebuilt/modifyed the blast box at work for best performance. its act a steel shot box that we use course blasting compound in it. so it never worked the best for filtering dust. i took a section of 4" truck exaust pipe and caut a hole in the side of the blast cabinet wall below grate screen and welded the pipe in for new dust suction position.

we also had to refill the blast media all the time to the side storage/dust filter unit . so i converted it to a suction tube in the box and new suction hose . NO more refill jobs now.

with all the mods to the blast box it works 10x better now and you can see what your blasting all the time now. this made for a much faster blast time this mornig .

going to get a adaptor for the speedi blaster we have for hand held and do the tops of my bed rails and try n finish the prep for prime n paint.

also got to the point with doors on it gutted i will use them on another truck build and i am going to dig out my 1 pair of gm/NOS doors for this one since i have such nice cab / box on the truck . and it will cut down prep time also as there edp coated so scuff and squirt is all.

well little more done today .

got 4 new std replacment headlights / assembled the units / installed new gm orignal adjusters and springs .

then go the plate light for the rear all done up . even got a new gasket for it . painted the inside area with chrome paint.

Good job man. Its crazy how long the little stuff takes. Everytime i hear someone say, "its just the small stuff now", i know they havent worked on trucks that long...

Looks good.:waytogo:

I can tell you the little things take a lot of time, but make you feel good about making some progress between the big things.:doah:

You were also smart to use orignal GM headlight adjusters. I've found out the hard way that the ones you get from the parts stores won't hold up very long. They will strip out or break in no time.

no one in town had adjusters for this style nose. and lmc wanted around $1.25 more + s&h to me for them . i got mine at the dealer in town cheeper and faster. the screws were redesigned with fatter head to clip in the bucket groves.

----------------------------

yep all the little stuff add's up a LOT and there is no way around it.

----------------------------

got the doors swaped over today . N.O.S gm units ( score off cragislist ) . will be faster to prep / paint these new color over the other doors. and driver door had dent in handle area needed fixed. but i will use the tan doors on plow truck when it gets redone.

got my cooling system today

griffin 8-70013-ls radiator specific to 73-91 solid axle style trucks with ls swap . and has tranny cooler in it but on driver side now. NOTE the inlet / outlet on pass side and baffle in middle of pass side tank. basicly makes this 2 radiators in 1 . and its how thay get both inlet / outlet on same side.

i also ordered up prothane rad isolators . wasnt sure on size i needed since aluminum rad might be made diffrent. well looks like it takes the bbc/6.2 4 core rad size isolators. 7-1712-bl

and for little bling i got a blue cap .
