2 wheel peel / rebirth of a short bed c-10

That looks really good Brett. If you're not gonna be carrying a lot of stuff in the bed I'd leave it shiny blue rather than line-x. Still doing the white two-tone too?

we painted the bed reg for first good coat. then turned the gun down over 1/2 psi and thick splattered the 2nd and 3rd good coats . gives it almost the same texture as the bead coatings . and with the box coming off a old work truck from its former life the paint was all chewed up anyways so it wanst perfect .

I will pop a inbed tool bos inside this box I have has for years in storage . its a deezee gold series that will fit great inside. then a extang full tilt soft tono will go on the box.

cover : http://www.extang.com/docs/fulltilt.html

toolbox not exact model but close to the one I got . http://www.deezee.com/products/400/...ests/Red_Label_Fifth_Wheel_Utility_Chest.html

and yes still going 2 tone . going to assemble the body so the 2 tone lines come out good. :thumb:

Glad to hear you're still going to two tone it. At the body line, or above?

Martin

just like the brown / tan cab pic in first post of this thread like Silverado equipped vehicles got .

and the roof will be the extra white . just not sure if I wana do top only or top and back white .

if top only would be at roof skin lines .

if top/back be like pic posted of blue/white.

but the 2 tone main body down the sides will be like the cab pic .

if the lines are going to be in the same place as the brown cab then i'd go top skin white only. if it goes down the back of the cab the white parts will get too close to each other and look wierd

The '89-'91 two tone is different. It is just up to the body line (and in my opinion looks much better). Are you going to do the pinstripes? How about body moulding?

Martin

Also, I don't think trim level had anything to do with the paint options, did it? I thought it was just an option.

thanks buddy .

I just searched basic images on yahoo. and I like the 89-91 style better also I think .

pic 1 red/white = 90
pic 2 red/white = 85

pic 1 tan/brown = 85
pic 2 green/tan = 90

I think if I did the 89-91 style the roof/back cab white might work better than the older 2 tone style HIGH riding line/split.

Should be ok without the molding, I left it off mine, just took me some time to decide it looked fine. If you are painting the roof white do only the roof panel not down the back of the cab, to much white with that paint scheme.

With the 90 scheme you could probably get away with the back of the cab white. And that might even look better without the molding.

I don't like the white roof...

few resons for white roof .

I like / no a/c yet and roof has few waves we couldn't get out 100% with out major skin work . had a dent in it before blasting of cab . when I come back it walked 3x its size in surface area from the heat of blasting .

we worked a lot of it out with filler and long board block sanding . and then 3-4 good batches of 2k filler primer and blocking out each one of them .

I like the earlier style 2 tone on the 81+ trucks myself. The white would look a little thin IMO.

I'd also pass in the white roof. I think that only looks good on the pre 80 trucks.
