Well, lads, I think it's time to give you a little update on the progress of this year's Rigs of CK5 calendars. I went through each and every submission on Wednesday night and whittled the list down to 29 pics. This weekend I have the unenviable task of choosing the 12 successful pics that will eventually appear in the calendar. I also have to decide which picture will end up gracing this year's cover. Yes, I have my work cut out for me........

I would like to thank each and every one of you who took the time to submit pics this year. As usual, we received some pretty amazing shots, and I can tell that a lot of you put a lot of effort into the project- I thank you for your time. Remember, without your participation the calendar project just couldn't happen.

Anyhow, for those of you who have yet to buy your calendar(s), you have about 20 days left to do so. We plan on shutting down the sales page right around the 1st of November, so if you plan on purchasing one or more calendars, time is running out.

The link to the sales page is:

If anyone has any questions, feel free to post up here or shoot me a PM.

Just a thought; I'm sure it would be a bigger pain in your a$$ than this calendar already is, but what about posting the submitted pics for a voting by they members?

Yeah, that's been suggested before, Dave, but since we started doing this the successful 12 has always been a surprise. I've always maintained that the calendar project will not turn into a popularity contest, and the best way to avoid that is to keep it as impartial as possible. I've always chosen the pictures based on artistic merit alone, and not based on how many buddies a given contributor can get to vote for his picture.

I also do my best to represent the CK5 family as evenly possible, by featuring a wide range of rigs, in a wide range of poses, with a wide range of backround scenery. If we voted for our favorite pics, I would lose a certain degree of artistic control over the project, and I"m not sure that's a good idea.

Lastly, I think people LIKE being surprised by which rigs appear in the calendar. If we ended up voting on the final 12, wouldn't it be a little anti-climactic when your copy showed up in your mailbox?? I mean, you'd already have seen the pics and would already know what to expect.........:dunno:

I'm hearing what your saying to that.

This was the first year I submitted any pictures, but I have to say dealing with you was a pleasure. I have no idea if you were able to use any of the pictures I sent, but either way, I was happy to buy a couple calendars! I look forward to the surprise and the inspiration to wheel more!

Thanks again!

-Dan
