2000-2005 1500's?

Thanks man, I think this is going to be a mid-late summer purchase so I have some time to look and find what I want.

If you go with an 03-07 Classic, try to stay away from one the auto climate controls. They can be a real PITA.

All so try to find a Z71. The regular 4x4s don't always have the undercarriage goodies, like skidplates, bilsteins, G80 locker, tow package, and the such. Also try to find a 3.73 or 4.10 truck. You'll like them alot better. The RPO codes for the trucks options is located in the glovebox. Here's the list of the rear gear codesso you know what to look for.
-G80=locking rear differential
-GU2=2.73
-GU4=3.08
-GU6=3.42
-GT4=3.73
-GT5=4.10
Just a side note, the 3.73 and 4.10 trucks get better mpg too.

As for the 3 door extended cab and the 4 door extended cab. 99 -2000 are 3 door and 01-up are 4door extend cab.

Don't be scared of a 100k mile truck either. They are just ready for their first tune up and are just getting broke in.

I own a 99 Z71 with 416k miles and a 07 Classic with 123k miles. I really love these truck for daily duty.

If you have any more question, feel free to ask.

Try to go down south more to find one i vote. Most of the early 2000 models around here are rusted out worse than you blazer when it comes to rockers and fenders and cab corners. Its redammdiculous. Get a clean one and bedline or oil coat the piss out of the underneath and in all the nooks and crannys. Otherwise they are solid. I had one but the rust pissed me off. My gpa kept it in a garage. Regularly washed it and sprayed underneath and up in fenders with a hose, and the rockers were still rotting and fender paint bubbling. Saw it the other day in town. Cab corners are MIA, and so are the rockers. Fenders looked like poo as well. Gawdamm i hate rust lol.

And you can get them cheaper around here. We bought a 2000 LS Z71 3dr w/101k miles for my friend's little brother for 5000. Whats 200.00 for a plane ticket to save 3-4k.

And not to mention a rust free rig with solid panels, breaklines.. Etc. I will not buy a vehicle from up here again. I will go south and the rust proof the sob best i can. Unless its something im not going to care about.

My 2001 longbed 5.3 has been used and abused, with construction racks , and tool box, has 235000, gets real good milage, ,,and has been extremely reliable . Other than water pump and brakes, little Odds and end getting replaced. It still has plenty of life left in it. I feel like it could make it another 150k or more . It burns oil a little, not much tho!

My 07 Classic Z71 extened cab 5.3/auto/ 4.10 truck gets 18 mpg and just got 24 mpg last week on a trip to FL.

My 99 Z71 5.3/5spd/4.10 gets 17 city 22 hwy

She's lost a little pep in her step, but still has enough step to walk the 5.4 tritons around here. LOL. It is tuned, with headers, true duals, and always been on Mobil 1 since new.

Very cool. I wanted to build my GMC that way but couldnt find a short short bed in the salvage yards. Didnt realize it was a factory option, I've only seen them on crew cabs.

Oh wow, I didn't really think it would be that good at all. Is that stock, or do you have any mods on the engine?

Thanks for all the good info guys, I really appreciate it!

My 07 just has a custum tune(180.00 dollars) and a factory style K&N filter(47.00).

The red 05 just has a factory style K&N filter.

If you are wanting to put a leveling kit and 33's on it,get a 4.10 truck. You will one lose 1 mpg and it will only change your speedo 3 mph. No need to retune tune or calibrate your truck. Money save there. My dad has an 06 extend cab short bed L33/4.10 truck with RC leveling kit. He drove 340 mile to my sister house on 265s. He cut 2 while there and replaced all 4 with 285/70/17s. He got 22 mpg on the there trip on 265/70/17s and 21 on the return trip with 285s. Not to bad I think.
