2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
I had a '91 s10 back in high school in WI that the rear part of the bed floor went MIA one day going down the highway. Another squarebody I had was missing the rear crossmembers under the bed. I had to stuff a 4x4 across the fromerails and cut holes and run a ratchet strap around the bedfloor and frame to hold it on. I sure love these trucks out west though.

I bought a '74 back in the day that was absolutely horrible, even by rust belt standards. Used the drivetrain for a rust free '84 and scrapped the rest. I have yet to see a truck that bad since.

Missing bed crossmembers is how I wound up with a stepside. The fleetside wasn't worth saving.

Squirrel...

So, my brother and I have been doing some brain storming. This summer I was planning on doing a 56 swap in the rear of the K5 and moving the 52's up front in the K5. That would leave me with an extra pair of 4" lift springs from my K5 that are 48's.

I am going to put those under they CC and then pull leafs as needed to achieve my ride height. They are a 4 pack, with a type of overload on the bottom. My thoughts are, start with the pack as is, then pull the overload.

Below is a picture of the springs that are currently in the K5. I am betting with the weight of the diesel these would settle pretty close to my goal. If not, pulling the overload should bring it pretty close to perfect.

At least, that's how it plays out in my head.....:screwy:
