2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
They are putting in office trailers and scales and all the stuff for a contractor to start hauling the fly ash out of the coal plant I work at. For the last 40+ yrs it has been dumped in a canyon above the plant and buried. I heard they shut down a plant down on the res in AZ so now they are gonna start taking it from us finally for cement.

Fly ash is more expensive these days. I also think its seems weird to be getting cement out of country. Of course I generally work on government jobs with buy America acts in place.

You sure about that cement/fly ash requirement Dave? No use of pumice pozzolans out there?
I may not remember it 100% properly, but that was what the boss told me last year. They are possibly more inclined to use cement because of our supply. I did just ask him about Chinese cement, he told me that is where California gets theirs because they don't want the "dirty " industries. So China cranks it out with no pollution controls and ships it.
BTW, a railcar holds over 100 tons of powder.

California epa caused most plants to shut down so now it mostly comes from China.
It's the same for most industrial production.
We don't get cement powder from China here. I believe it comes out of Florence Colorado. We often get 5 to 7 railcars per week. I have never heard of it being made in China.
Fly ash is more difficult to get because of the reduction in coal burning, and the only substitute for it is more cement.

You beat me to it

Is this done yet?
Nope. Tried to start it the other day to move it into the garage so I could be somewhat warm and work on it, but the batteries are dead as crap.

Going to throw the charger on it tonight and the block heater to see if it will start tomorrow. Current temp here is 5*, so we'll see if it fires up.

Did you wind up building a shop?

Ok slightly back from the dead.

This thing need batteries. What a good battery for a duel battery setup? Not looking to spend an insane amount, but it is going to go back into the DD rotation soon.

Was thinking a nice set of O’Reilly AGM batteries.
