Well, the stars have realigned for me to buy back my old 1/2 ton 2wd Silverado. My brother has had it since I got rid of it, and done tons of suspension work but never uses it. He said yesterday he was going to sell it, and asked if I was interested. I said, "well duh".

It's going to be replacing my tired Grand Cherokee for DD use, and some weekend hauling if/when my crew cab is occupied by the camper.

It's a 2000 1500 Silverado with a little over 200k on the clock. 5.3L 2wd. 5/7 drop with c-notched rear frame and spindles up front. Truck runs phenomenal still. My plans are to just drive it, and fix some body work as time and money persists. Maybe a little bump cam and a tune down the road.

Here it sits the day I sold it to my brother. It has since lost the chin spoiler and the 22's are gone. He also took of the rusty roll pan and put on a factory bumper, which will stay. This is basically going to be my new "shop truck".

Looks sharp!
Don't let the camera angle fool you, she's got some hail on it, and the paint is 15years old now. But it is rust free, and fairly straight. It's a ton of fun to drive, and still gets after it if need be. I'm just bored driving that Grand Cherokee. I mean, it's one peg off from being a minivan.

Finally sold the Jeep. $3500 and the guy is picking it up on the 10th. Going to try to get the truck out of my brother's muddy yard this weekend and tag it.

That's excellent

I've kind of been looking at 2wd stuff lately. I really wanna daily something lowered, which makes zero sense where I live but oh well

Yeah!

2wd's can be used 85% of the year here. And it'll give me more incentive to get my crew cab done with the 4x4 swap.

On our way back home. A little more rust than I remember, mainly on the rockers. A little less clear coat than I remember. Truck runs great and drives nice. Needs some TLC and some work, but I want to clean this up, fix the rust, and maybe change the paint scheme. I fully intend on keeping this until it's one of my kids' turn to drive.

The rockers suck to fix... Did my kids 01 and still have my 02 to do.

It seems like most of those trucks from up north have rocker rust, my neighbor payed a fortune for a rcsb and the rockers look like swiss cheese.
I agree 2wd goes down, 4wd goes up...

I would disagree. Look at nates 2wd. I would say tho to not do it based on location. It's not like you live in the desert where you can use something like that all the time.

There are 3-4 projects in front of that idea, one of them being a similar build that my brother wants to do. I suppose I could see how it pans out for him, then see if it would be worth it. The first step is probably going to be paint. The factory black underneath is in great shape, and this orange has started to peal. Side note, I had forgotten that he did a hydroboost swap.
