Fishing for some ideas. :doah: I have a 2003 K1500 Chevy 4x4 with the autotrac transfer case. Has anyone seen if you can change out the transfer case with a 241 or 205 and put one ton chevy axle underneath. I think the only SAS that I have found for 2003 is from Fabritech. Thanks for any information.

Off Road Unlimited makes an SAS kit for your truck, and CAGE offroad just had a feature in Petersens about a radius arm SAS kit.

If I was going to do a SAS, the offroad unlimited kit would probably be my choice! Looks pretty straightforward/beefy.

Looks like a great kit, but that price tag makes me want to look elsewhere

For what the ORU kit is, it's WAAAAY overpriced. Honestly, with a ****load of measuring and a little design work, a set of leaf spring hangers for your truck really wouldn't be all that hard to make.

The CAGE kit is a coil spring/radius arm kit that includes a lot more than just 4 spring hangers, which explains it's cost. From what I've seen of it, it isn't that bad of a deal, IMO.

I fully agree with the cage kit being of some value, for wha it includes its not that bad, it would cost right about the same to build there arms as it does to buy them. and the price is spot on with other long arm sellers such as rubicon express.

if you cant fab or dont have the access or time, you pay for convience..

i threw up the idea to SFA my 01maroonz71(go figure) and i just ended up throwing on a superlift/body lift and running 37's. and i was more than happy. it was a DD...but then i needed front end parts like crazy. also, the trans went out...so i traded her in before she got so bad you could'nt drive it.

anyways, i researched like a mofo about the SFA swap, and i have a buddy who actually made a crossmember. i think he had about 250bucks in materials and had a DAMN BEEFY setup. ill see if i can find pictures.

oh yeah, BTW, he ran a FORD60 front with a 14bolt out back. for the case, he used his stock 231(non autotrac) and 44hawgs. it looked good except for the hawgs, i don't like hawgs on anything but old classic trucks. anyways, ill see if i can get a hold of him for ya. and get ya some more info man

if your transfer case spins all thetime, you would have to drive with your hubs locked in to avoid burning up the x-case. now, that being said...they did use some cases, (they switched midway through 04) that don't spin all the time. with your truck in park, reach under there and see if you can spin your front D-shaft. if you CAN, then you can use the case you have, like my buddy did. but if you can't, you need to find a newer case(that you can spin).

231 is a Jeep t-case. 241 and 243 are non-autotrac GM cases.

For future reference. :D
