/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif That makes my trip even longer. Thanks for the heads up. I wander if my property in Roan Mt. moved too /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Guess I need to make a trip to find out. Sounds like another excuse to go /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Heard yesterday that some of the old trails on Tenn. side of Tellico area are open again.Used to be some good riding. Not as difficult as others, but,I've got to call some folks to find out for sure. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

You're inTN so you might be more up to speed on this than me, but here is what I know. SFWDA is working w/ the TN state gov trying to reopen the Tellico Plains (TN side, Upper Tellico in the NC side) to ORV traffic. In doing so they want to develop a plan for other ORV areas in TN. Like all politicans (sp) they never let a chance to make money slip by. They see the tax revenu that NC gets and want a piece as well.
You might want to contact one of these people at Southern:

You talking about Smokey Mtn. Trek/Venture or the CK5 ride or Tellico in general?

Well!!!! Still with no new information on this, I'm finding myself a little fumed!
However, if Tellico falls through we could re-group and schedual it here in TN at the Summertown location. Says they are not open for business that weekend, but they are open for schedualing when groups are involved. Just for your all's info....check it out..

S.M.T/V was canceled last year.Haven't heard anything this year.Just making comment that I have been going to area for several years at this time. Some others I know are going to be in area and the Dixie Run is having a new spring run the next weekend.Be a lot of rigs from all over the country there to see.Look forward to meeting some of y'all there. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

W.I.T.C. is OK place to go.All I know about K5 ride is what I read here.S.M.T/V may not happen this year.I am going to Tellico at that time for aprox 2 wks.I hope to meet some K5ers there, wasn't trying to Hijack post talking about other events.See you on the trails /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Tellico, or properly Upper Tellico ORV Area, is not going anywhere. Zonk & I were refering to the TN side, or Tellico Plains, wich currently does not have an ORV area. The CK5 ride will be the last weekend in Apr. The usual group will be there and hopefully some new faces.

Heard about last year being canceled, don't know about this yr. Spring Dixie Run is in TN at Windrock, 1st weekend of May, or weekend after CK5 ride.

Heard bout the Dixie Run here on CK5 .Usually got my forms for SMV by now.Several of the groups that normaly come in for it should still be in area.Lot of us were there last year.Hope I can find out about Tenn side trails. Most of them have been closed since 90 or 91.Let you know soon as I can. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

O.k. folks, here we go, trying to get started early so people can plan for this. This gives about 6 months time. How does the weekend of April 25,26,27 th 2003 sound to yall. Thats Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are several camp grounds available for primitive up to full campers and giant R/V's. They can accomidate tow vehicles and trailers you name it. We could meet at the main pay station on trail 1 (Davis Creek Road) or at one of the campgrounds. Crawford has a very nice setup and some great on site rock gardens as well as repair shop available for rent with tools for $20.00 an hour.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks. I already have a map and the site saved in the Favorites. I'm siked about the trip. Same buddy that rode with me last trip is still stocked for the ride as well. I'm just ellated to hear that the place will be open. I'm ready to hit some harder trails and break some [censored].

I'll be camping somewhere around the state line area.Come sit around the fire at night, watch some videos, tell some tall tails, empty a can or two.Got videos of area from 88 till last year, usually watch some at night.Have some to sell most times. You should see some of the area before it had so much traffic on it.SEE Y"ALL THERE. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Its still a go, I have not been on the site much. Gas prices are killing the drive on the K5 right now. Spending a good bit of time on some electric R/C airplanes right now. Got my boys involved with it, so its good family fun. The trip is still a go and I will be ready and up for it. If you dont see me respond to something, please email me. I am still here, just not on the site much right now.

Thanks

I am looking at camp sites and can't figure where to camp. What's a good place from someone that know's the area? I want to make reservations soon if possible. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I've been camping at Hanging Dog State Park near Murphy NC,but,I'm planning on going to Tenn side this year. There's Spivey Cove camp grounds at Green cove Tn.and lots of sites on the river edge between there and the trails. Both State sites were $8 a night last year and the others were $3{I think}.There's a offroad camp just out of the access road on NC side thats supposed to be good place with showers and a shop available for repairs if needed.I'll get a name for it and post. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
