That was my main reason why I suggested the 5.3 over the 4.8, it has a hellva time towing

5.3 more horses and torque for the same mpg, was my other reason.

4.8 should last a long time, 48k on the clock isn't nothing anymore, just broken in

I'm so proud of my s-i-l!


he scored a loaded 05 Silverado Z71 ....with a 5.3!!! They just put a new t/c in it...they're waiting on a new actuator for it. He got it from a repair shop where it was abandoned. I can now call him "Son"...proudly!

If and when my 4.8 dies, it will get a 5.3...it sounds "ballsy"!!


edit: my 4.8 has 224,000 on it (and it's running better now than any other time since I've owned it)...I was talking about the o.p.'s truck having 48K....

I like the 5.3, I kinda miss the good ole Chevy 350, but the 5.3 has been a good replacement.
