2007 5.3 (with displacment on demand) swap?

The LS1 engines are very realiable. The older LS1's (97-00) seam to have piston slap issues but not all. Its the other stuff. Interior, window motors, weak rear axle, clutch, rotors that make the f-body unrealiable. Beside breaking my 7.5" rear axle (mis-shift) I never had a problem with my Trans Am. The weight savings alone would make it worth it.

are the f-bodies really as unrealiable as the stats indicate? the reliability for the vette seems a whole lot better. my theory is that both are fine platforms, but that vettes are almost exclusively adult driven, and too many camaros and firebirds find their way into the hands of teenagers who romp on the gas every chance they get. i've been on a vette hunt lately, but haven't completely ruled out f-bodies.

reliabilty info is good to have, so maybe my hijack will help in the original subject some.

hijack off. that sounds a little offensive. i'll rephrase: Lift hijack. an homage to master blaster's "lift embargo" from mad max beyond thunderdome. who run barter town?

FYI, the FlexFuel motors are aluminum, the regular gas are iron still. I think they are all going to be aluminum starting next year, as well as having the new 6 speeds.
