2007 Chevy LBZ Duramax Build

The autocal controller arrived. I downloaded the stock TCM files and emailed them to PPEI. They send the new tunes back shortly. I downloaded the new tunes to the autocal and then to my truck.

I have not installed the 5 position switch yet. But so far, with just the new tune in the stock setting, it is shifting much much better, shifting faster and I am getting a lot more boost pressure. Egts seem lower as well.

The check engine code light is gone for the egr delete. No black smoke at all, even under heavy acceleration. It feels crisp and clean.

Tomorrow I will install the 5 position switch and give progress report. I can get an extra 200+hp with the switch. I do not plan on going above 100hp for now because the only other upgrades I need is to finish the exhaust, fuel upgrades and pump. These upgrades are least on my list right now because I am fininacially eating it in the AZZ with the current upgrades. Exhaust will be next because I already have a cat back Diamond eye 5” kit.

Oh yeah, the computer EFI program is easy to work with.

FYI, if one orders tunes from PPEI, send me a PM to get ordering instructions. ;-)

Just finished installing the switch. It is working! I triple checked my install and followed the instructions perfect!

I noticed the pins on the end of the wires of the switch are round. The LBZ has Square pins that lock into place. The round pins work good too if you use a small mini ice pick to push the pin and part of the wiring into the plug so you can see the end of the pin all the way threw.

I got it up to 23 psi at 1100 egts with the stock exhaust. I am keeping it on stock position for now until the exhaust is done.

More info in reguards to my EFI live tune.

Lockup will occur in 2nd gear at 80+% throttle and in 3rd gear at lower than 80% throttle.

2nd tow position includes full time turbo brake.

Finally got the Exhaust done. 5” cat back. 4” from Down pipe with adapter to the 5”. Cat delete and muffler delete. Egts are 250 degrees lower. Low enough to feel comfortable to turn the switch up giving more fuel.

She sounds amazing! Deep growl under heavy acceleration and super loud turbo whistle while normal acceleration.

Honestly, there is not as much drone noise as others claimed there would be. More turbo whistle for sure.

Diesel Shop labor rates just skyrocketed from $140hr to $175hr.

Thinking ahead of the future on Maintance costs….

When the Transmission goes out it’s currently $12,000 to replace.

When the injectors go out it’s currently $4,000+

Not mentioning when the head gasket goes out… :-/

The inflation/cost of living is getting tough. With my household annual income of $121,000, we calculate we are now classified as upper poverty here in this state.

In a nutshell, I would have to have a lifetime loan on this truck to keep it going. No joke!

In the long run, it will be a lot cheaper to sell it now, taking a huge loss, than it is worth trying to keep it and maintain this truck.

She will be sold this Monday for $18,000
