2007 Tahoe Pics

Front end(ed)

Looks like the guys at GM styling have been bitten by the European bug.
Seems they have taken a look at the new Range Rover on more than one occassion to me.
Everything over here gets curvy & swoopy now. Cat-eye driving lights are a spreading disease and pedestrian-friendly bumpers are the norm.
Flat Fronts Forever! (except on girls!!)

New vehicles are retarded. I am driving my parents '03 suburban right now and yesterday the 4wheel drive buttons went tits up so the truck now has no 4 wheel drive and the cluster says to service4wd and the truck only has 43k miles on it. Plus we have already had to replace the tranny, steering box, and steering pump and some ball joints, I have lost all faith in new GM's after this truck! Oh and as far as the "truck", I dont like it either. Try taking that thing deer hunting and I would probably get high centered just driving down a section line :doah:

Bring back the old iron....

I think ALL the GM trucks since 88 look ghey...no offence to anyone who owns one!. (especially the 2000-up models)..they look "girly" compared to the first and second generation GM trucks..

.My brother has a 1992 GMC 3/4 ton 4wd with a 6.5 turbo and a 5 speed..when I ride in his truck,I feel like I'm riding in a tupperware salad bowl!--too much plastic in the interior..(I feel the same in my Ford Contour too)..I just dont care for the newer vehicles styles at all..they took all the "Macho" out of the vehicles of today, and "Wimped" them out...no more rugged good looks, iron transfer cases,no solid front axle..sissy trucks compared to those of yesteryear...

I'd like to see how long the newer trucks last when put up against the older ones mechanically...I feel they have gone downhill as far as durability....you cant even lean up againt a new truck without caving in the door or fenders..its IS nice to have all the creature comforts like A/C,and a smooth riding IFS suspension--IF all you do with it is ride around in it!..but all that stuff is just more things to break down the road, and extra weight for nothing..

I feel if GM had a brain, they would hop on the "Retro" wagon, they started too with the SSR Truck(Which I think is VERY cool looking, but is as useful as a truck as teats on a bull!)...People are buying Crysler products here like crazy, the PT Cruiser,Dodge Crossfire,Magnum,Charger, even the Prowler!..they all want a "classic" looking car..people don't feel at home in the new cars, they feel more like spaceships than cars nowadays..

I feel they will never get a better looking vehicle than the ones we had in the 30's,40's,50's and 60's...we need more cars like the GTO,(REAL ones)and Chevelles, and trucks with classic good looks like they had back then...I for one would love to be able to go into a Pontiac dealers showroom and buy a 1969 GTO "reproduction" that has all modern drivetrain, but has the exact looks of a 1969 model..or a 1966 GMC pickup 4x4 with the 70's drivetrain, like a TH400 or SM465,with a NP205 and limited slip rear...but I think the steel dash pad and door panels would not pass todays safety standards...and where would they hide the air bags??...sigh...I wish I was born a lot earlier--I hate living in the "space age".. :surepal: :surepal: :screwy:

I would take the same thing , old sheetmetal/new drivetrain . However I would prefer a newer dashboard ( would deal with the drivers side airbag if they did a nice center ) , mp3 player etc .

Too bad they didn't have any way of using unused vins or anything for GM's . Remember when Shelby finished the Cobras several years back , they were "contiunuation" cars . Just all the factory leftovers so it was like one big coffee break for 30 some odd years :D

Looks good in a "sport truck" kind of way. Not exactly my cup of tea but I bet they sell a bunch. If the took off most of the front valence and the running boards it would look better.

On the "best front end" I say the 1980 GMC. Old grill w/ square headlights. The '73-'79 is second best.

There's no exif info on the pics, but I'd bet they're cellphone cameras too.

Perfect...I hate my 97, and it looks like I hate the 07.

It's good to be consistant.

I think the best looking front end was the late 60's GMC with 4 ROUND headlights..... :saweet: Followed by 89-91 Blazer/ Burb fronts

i wish they would make heavy strong trucks like they used to. i think they build them that way because they charge more upfront and have to get everything repaired at the shop. i think they are making rediculous amounts of money now. make bank to sell the truck and make bank when you break something every other month!

New trucks are pretty beefy. Oh, beast, I wish theyd make a front end like the first gens. the 01-02s looked like em, with the tall hood and all, look so good!

Yeah I wouldn't say new trucks are sissy by any means. Although I love my other trucks, my '05 has more stock torque than my '87 has displacement. Plus I don't think a nv4500 and a 11.5" 14bff rear are anything to laugh at either. Besides the lack of a front axle I don't see how new trucks can be considered weaker or less durable than the older ones, you just have to know how to order them without all the electronic automatic BS gadgetry that always breaks down. Every time I hear someone complain that their electric selected 4wd screws up, I look at my manual t-case shifter and smile and tell them that they shouldn't have been so lazy and learned how to shift a lever into 4wd. :p:

The lack of front axle is what makes them so sissy not to mention the plastic steps and lack of ground clearence. Sure the motors are beefy as hell but they have no where near the offroad capability of the older bowties.

At least it's not as ugly as the 73-80 GM clips. :p: I haven't liked any of the GM body styles from 88-00, the Escalade front end is really nice but can only be had on an Escalade. :doah:

I'll be keeping my '01 Ram with the Sport clip, I think it's the best looking front end on any pickup pretty much ever, but thats me.

Although, the new designed '05 grille and headlights look GREAT on the new Super Duty Fords. I think the new Ford looks best with the sport equipped clip Ram in a close second, and the GM in a long last. ;)

People dont buy those trucks for offroad capability..... They arent made to rock crawl, they are made to work and haul...

I like the way the front looks, I just hope they update the interior; that 90's look dash in a 2007 vehicle is not going to fly with consumers. The days of taking your new truck offroad are long gone, no one wants to damage their $40-50k SUV.
