2008 Top Truck Challenge

I don't care how "hardcore" the views on CK5 & Pirate are that Aerostar = ghey

:D

For you guys that want to see "real" trucks, you need to write in to fourwheeler and ask them to bring back Real Truck Club Challenge. That was a normal man's TTC. I went and watched the last two years and I planned on entering my truck once it was running.

im sure those guys in ttc are sponsored, but there are alot of rigs on here that are definitely up to par with some of the rigs that made it to the top 10 let alone top 50. if you've already got the built parts in your rig, (assuming your stuff is in good condition) whats stopping people on here with built rigs from entering? some guys on here already have the money into the rigs on quality parts, so they could compete with everyone else. can people on here not take the time off or have a way to get there? if i had the chance to take my street driven truck to TTC and couple actually compete or even get in the top 50 id definitely enter, while i highly doubt id win or place, it would be cool just to do it, especially cause nobody else in the competition would be driving their rigs there. id definitely want a trailer tho for the ride back, incase i broke anything.

Was this in Attica (Badlands)? If so I went a couple times too. I wondered what happened to that.

well its over i guess the 2 rock buggies tied for first how did our ck5 member do and what rig was his

i wondered about that myself

I knew jeremy naeger would make it, he is friends with some guys from four wheeler magazine, he has been on the cover of four wheeler 3 or 4 times, two of which were features of the same truck. Four Wheeler and Petersen's have done 2-3 page coverage of his mud bash's, as well as post pics of him at some midwest events, they even put his truck on those little subsciption inserts. it makes me wonder if they really go by the votes or do they just pick ther trucks themselves.

the red truck(firewall:doah:) with flames on the front cap, was a feature truck in the mag 1 month, they called it ''flaming cheeto'', then a few months later they did a big rubber comparison and they said they didn't have a rig big enuff to test 49'' tires, so they called on their good friend ''so-and-so''....from the pics in the artical, you could see it was the flaming cheeto truck, so when i saw it made it to TTC, it made me wonder how level the playing field was among the entrants!

What do you mean by that? He was an alternate last year and made it in this year

he is friends with the guys at the mag, that is why he has been an alternate for the last 2 years and made it in this year.

Randy has had enough votes to be an alternate for the last couple of years. He was an alternate again this year and then 3 rigs failed to show so he was in. Only 9 rigs competed.

Evolution Fab's Warthog and the CD fab buggy on 54's split first place. Apparently they chopped the trophy right down the middle.

As for the voting, they post the # of votes that the top 10 or 12 rigs got, and #1 came in with less than 700 votes. One could pretty easily drop a pile of cash on a bunch of mags and vote yourself in. Don't forget that each ballot has 10 spots, so for 700 votes you'd need 70 mags at $6 each, $420 isn't a damn thing compared to the cost of most builds and the fuel to get there and back.

Whats up with the fire wall???
he moved the cab back like 10 or 12 inches, I dont think there are issues with it hitting from what i have seen in person.
I dont hink he is runnig a 52 or 56 in front either he could get alot more out of it i think.
Its a mud rock truck not a rock crawler

oh, by no means am i trying to take anything away from that truck, its absolutly awesome, i like how he drilled the holes in the floor(i believe it was the cheeto that had that)

i said that about the firewall, b/c its been talked about on here about that being the only thing left of the body, and people saying that they may have been better off just removing the body and starting w/just the frame and building the rig w/o any of the body...it seems like the evolution of these bada$$ rigs end up w/just the firewall.

and i wasn't out right saying the cheeto made it to TTC b/c he's friends w/people from the mag, just pointing out that it seemed that could be the case, but as far as that rig is concerned....i love it and would have voted for it!

i remember the article on that truck, and it had some good action pics, i'd like to see it in action on video...any you tube vids of the cheeto in action, that anyone knows of?

Hey no problem randy is a really nice guy and would help anyone and does he recently hooked me up wiht some used springs at a great price.
I think that is he made because of the its almost still a truck so more can relate and hes been an alternate as said and could make the call in a short notice. He also has a shop they used for a 6 speed tranny swap been there also and he puts together some nice big ass mud trucks all the way down to regular street lifts.
It is a very uniqe rig nice to see some of these in person as you said to get ideas and see how its all put together. Yea he still has a full cab preatty much and all those holes are there for getting the crazy sand mud out from where we wheel.:doah:
its like no other let me tell ya.
He belongs to a truck club out here called the few here is there site and they have som videos and pic of him on there as well as the fj40.
they posted alot of updates and so forth on there of the ttc he and his codriver recieved awards for best driver or something i believe.

The last few years the trucks have become more and more alike: 46+ inch tires, rockwells, 1000 hp engines, blah, blah, blah. At least it's only once a year. What's really starting to bug me is all the towing articles. All of the magazines that are owned by the same corporation (Four Wheeler/Peterson's, etc) are full of built diesel monsters, doesn't matter what make, Ford, Chevy, Dodge -everytime some suspension company designs a new left for one of them, it's in the magazines. Talk about not being in touch - one of them just ran big spread on a 450 (550?) Ford with some pimp package on it -- the dumb thing was almost 60k. How many of their readers can afford or NEED a rig like that? Or similar things for 2-3 months in a row. I don't expect these magazines to be all k5s and don't mind looking at Jeeps or even Furds, but come on...

Just a short continuation of the rant: It's especially irritating because the same company has a Diesel truck magazine!! All I can figure is the whores must need parts for their own rigs.

One of the entries this year was running a cummins 4bt motor....

so what your saying is: next year, if people wanted to on here, we could get all 10 of the competing rigs from ck5:haha: it would basically be like TOTM:p:

Anyone have the final standings? Scott Morris is a local. Kind of curious how he did.
