Silver lake is actually over 2000 acres of dunes, but the ORV area is only 600 of that. Of course it's not the biggest or baddest dunes in the country, but it is pretty awesome and not too far away for us midwest guys. You work with what you have. I think the whole my dunes are bigger than your dunes thing is rather amusing. We should all just be happy we have dunes to drive/ride on, it's not like we can move the dunes.
And to be honest they didn't pick the best spot for jumping during the long travel event at silver lake either, it seems most vehicles were bottoming out worse on the transition to the hill than they were on the landings because of the abrupt angle change at the bottom before takeoff.
That all white newer GMC is tougher than it looks from the outside, he had a REAL hard landing on the right front tire at silver lake after a big jump, I thought he was done for the day the way it hit, but he was fine and kept on jumping!
