2014 huckfest

Thats insane! I thought silver lake was huge! Our "small" dunes area, Sand Lake, is 900 acres. I wanna say our other big areas (seperated into 3 main areas) make up something like 12,000 acres.

EDIT: looks like 32,000 acres for oregon dunes! Not sure if all of that is OHV area tho.

Oceano dunes (aka Pismo) is 3,500 acres total but during certain times of the year a large section is blocked off for some stupid birds that nest there. Even then it's about 1,000 acres at it's smallest.

Yah silver lake is smaller. But every weekend it is full of a lot of fullsize rigs and not just bikes and quads like I have heard from other peoples dunes.

Hope you had fun avery. Looked like some cool rigs by your fb pics. Frank's white gmc is one of my favorites. And he definitely launches it for being such a big pig.

Silver lake is actually over 2000 acres of dunes, but the ORV area is only 600 of that. Of course it's not the biggest or baddest dunes in the country, but it is pretty awesome and not too far away for us midwest guys. You work with what you have. I think the whole my dunes are bigger than your dunes thing is rather amusing. We should all just be happy we have dunes to drive/ride on, it's not like we can move the dunes.

And to be honest they didn't pick the best spot for jumping during the long travel event at silver lake either, it seems most vehicles were bottoming out worse on the transition to the hill than they were on the landings because of the abrupt angle change at the bottom before takeoff.

That all white newer GMC is tougher than it looks from the outside, he had a REAL hard landing on the right front tire at silver lake after a big jump, I thought he was done for the day the way it hit, but he was fine and kept on jumping!

Yep, I am just happy enough to even have a place besides my driveway for my truck. Anything, regardless of what it actually is, is better than nothing, or my driveway for that matter.

Agreed, but if the word dunes is in a thread skinny jeans man has to remind us that his are the best. :D

But he knows we only pick on him because we like him.
