also, in the 203, there is a lock position in either low or high range where you can lock in the differential inside the case so it is not open all the time as previously stated.

ha no kidding. never knew that. the 203 i had was converted. i nor my buddy knew that about the 203

Completely differant animal than a 205 or 208. Not better or worse (even though it is heavy and sucks to install) but when not converted or changed i believe it to be a very reliable good performing transfer case. Kinda a crude but effective introduction to all wheel drive. Plus it reminds you of when your front U joints and other parts are wearing as you will notice pretty much anything just driving to the store
