Is the input on a 208 and 205 interchangeable? Can i put a 205 behind the 700r4?

Is there an aplication that fits the 205 on the 700 or am I going manual

I was browsing the other day and randomly read a post that said mating a 700r4 to a 205 is a b!tch... but that's all I really know on the subject.

I can't think of an application that came with a 700r4 and a 205 but there could have been a few...

Then it is time to go manual tranny. I hate this 208 slip yolk. I will wait till it comes apart though..

just get an adapter off the internet and grab a Th350 NP205 with the adapter and bolt it in and go on ur 700r4 i have a 700/205 combo in mine except i built my own custom adapter

If you search, there is some tech about using a dodge 208 to convert it to a fixed yoke.

Also, these guys claim to make a SYE for the 208:

Kert at DIY makes a clocking ring, or supposedly you can swap the 27 spline chevy input shaft to the dodge case which will then clock flat using 5 of the 6 mounting bolts.

i am gonna SYE my 208 because i like it and i have two, you take the back half and misc stuff from a dodge 208 and you have a good fixed yoke TC.

There is no room to divorce a blazer. I am going to play with pinion angles again and try and get rid of my vib I created. I had it perfect and now it is all jacked again.

Does it have to be a dodge 208? Will the ford ones work just the same?

All throughout the 80's were six round pattern 205's . So you just need a 27 spline female input shaft and the front looks like a 208 . And of course perhaps change the output since the 205 were slip yoke since 1980 .

I don't know if the 208 adapter ( six round ) leaves the 205 able to shift , but perhaps the long adapter would .

Fords are wrong side drop, which I do believe places the pinion on the other side of the ring gear, making it spin backwards from Chevy. I could be mistaken.

You can divorce a Blazer. If you can run a doubler in a Jeep, you can divorce a blazer. Your front drive shaft will be a bit longer than the rear, but it will work. If there's not enough room, move the axle back. Fixes departure angle problems.

I am going to gank out my shims and see if I can get rid of the vibrations.
