would it be too much if you were to do a 231 or 241/208 fixed yoke doubler??
A buddy of mine is a machinist/wheeler and he is going to start work on a 208/205 doubler for his and my upcoming buggy projects. 208's aren't the strongest planetary's but I have beat the crap out of my 208s and I have several extra's laying around to use for the project. We will see how it turns out.
I was looking at the DD machine kits but Duffy basically stopped making them because he would sell 10:1 231 vs 241 kits so he decided to focus on the 231 kits.
im gonna wait and spend my money on steering, propane and getting my dodge/chevy 208 done (have all the parts sitting here)mabye after the write up ill do something but the klune or black box sure luke simple if you have no nolage or tools for this
He said I would need a round pattern 205,which I dont-mine is figure 8,so he suggested a flippin Ford 205 case with a 32 spline input.I didnt ask but I would think that would take care of the shifter issues. Also, just goin off memory,a upside 205 case would probably tuck up in the frame better as well.

I havn't had a problem with my 208 planetaries in my 6,000lb K5 yet on some heavy use either so I doubt strength will be much of an issue. If I come across a couple 241 planetaries for a good price I might pick them up but if not then it will be 208 guts. Both of us are on real tight budgets for our builds also so using what we already own is another big reason for the 208 parts.
