241/205 doubler

1" bar stock fits in there pretty good too. Gives you some place to drill and tap some holes. I'm sure the plate would work fine just another thought.

I know you bought the D&D kit. Is the clocking ring required with the kit, or is it built into the plate?

i was really just trying to show the 1" bar stock instead of plate. I also sealed the inside with right stuff just to be sure. Anyways I didn't use the clocking ring that it came with, sold it to a guy on pirate. I had that spacer built so the shift rails could come out the front. Here is a pic of the spacer with the clocking ring built in.

Ok. Yeah I saw that bar stock. That picture makes it easier to see how you did it.

So the kit comes with a spacer and the plate and you just used the spacer as the clocking ring?

I am probably gonna do it like Chris did with the DIY plate and blank clocking ring, but I am undecided.

I had the spacer made local. cost me $500 for it be be made out of billet and to have 2 flanges turned down. the kit comes with clocking ring though. sold mine for $45 shipped, you can find them from some vendors i think.

Ok one more question :D

Am I looking for the long or short 32 spline input? I have a couple wanted adds up on local boards. I searched around, but didn't find anything certain stating which cases came with long or short and the 6 bolt round pattern.

SSyork I know you used a long input, but you have the spacer too, and I'd rather not spend the $$ on that. Did you do the spacer just for the shift rail clearance, or because you have the long style input?

I just used the long one to compensate for the spacer. The regular one is the one you need. I do have a ford 31 spline that would fit if d&d makes a shaft for it.

D&D does make a 31 spline shaft, that's what I used (my 205 was empty and I had the 31 spline input left over from when I went to a 32 spline front output).

If you want the ford 31 input I can bring to BB if you're going. If not I would ship it for $30. $20 for the input, $10 shipping in a flat rate box. You might want to make sure you can get the shaft first though.

Did you consider having a 2wd SM465's output shaft re-splined so then you can use a short adapter between the 241 and 465 to get the overall length down?

What is the overall length of your setup once everything is bolted together? I am going to probably start something like this soon and need to try and figure out drivetrain layout around my link crossmember. Also what is the distance from the face of the 241 to the face of the front output shaft flange?

I'm going to bring this thread back from the brink of death.

I'm going out scouting this week for a 4L80 with a 241 behind it.
This will make the perfect donor pair, as I all ready have the round 205 w/adapter. I'll be manually shifting the 4L80, so it won't matter much as far as ecm's are concerned.

I'm in the process of building one... but for a dodge truck(passanger 241, driver 205)

Does anyone have a source on the intermeidate shafts??? I can't get a hold of D.D. machine.

I need a 241 output spline and a 31 spline 205 input spline.

MIke.

I've talked to him a handful of times over the past couple weeks on pirate through PMs...
