I just acquired a 91 k5 with a 700r4 and 241.

I already have a th400/208 for my K20.

I am getting ready to rebuild the 208 (already bought the kit).

Now that I have the 241, I am thinking of running it instead of the 208 for a SLE.

With all that out of the way, how interchangable are these t cases?

Can I take the th400 input out of the 208 and put it in the 241?

Can I take the tail housing off the 241 to put on the 208?

Is there any chance that most, if not all, of my 208 rebuild kit will be the same parts for the 241?

Any opinions on which is a better t case to put in? Pros cons?

Thanks

Don't think so.

I've looked inside both cases, but never side by side. They are very similar, but I don't know how many parts actually interchange.

I don't think that one is really any better than the other. I wouldn't spend alot of effort to run the 241, unless you were gonna do a fixed yoke output on it.

With the correct parts they can interchange but the 208 stuff will not fit in the 241. The trans to t case adapter will work though.

No.

Some of the bearings might be the same but thats about all I can think of that might be usable.

I think the 241 is just a little better then the 208. Has a lower low range and it seems the case is built a little better. The 241 is also easier to do a SYE on. The big problem you will have is your 241 should have an electronic speed sensor and you need mechanical which is what your 208 has. Unfortunately the parts do not interchange so you will need the mechanical speedo stuff from a 89 241 t case. You also need a 32 spline input from a 241.

Thanks

Hope this helps you a little.
