I really like my Holly Truck Avenger 670CFM on my 400sbc. Runs nice out of the box and if I would get off my lazy a$$ and read the simple literature that comes with it I could tune it to run like a top. And your right, there are a ton of threads on this topic. Cheapest place I found was on ebay but forgot the company and I searched high and low.
holleys have a side hung float that can flood u out in off camber situations, qjet better offroad is concensus from what i have read...i have always ran qjet on my 4x...i have a carter afb competion on a 2wd and i like it and its basically the same carb as the edelbrock, so depends on how you drive the truck
I ran an edelbrock but when I started offroading I switched to a used Qjet. I fiddled and "calibrated" the edel. and liked it. But the Qjet wins hands down while still needing a freshening up. Summit sells JET carbs dont they?
Get a JET claibrated Q-jet and call it good. I've got a 72 Ventura with a Edelbrock, had an 86 F-250 with 2 different Edelbrocks and IMHO, they just seem to get worse with every purchase. I will never own another Edelbrock. From now on, it's a Q-jet or EFI.
