Is this doable? I'm not a fan of cranking the T bars. I know 265s fit just fine, but if i could squeeze the next size up, I'd like that better. I've got grandpa 245s on there now...truck is a 97 2500 gmc

be tight but yes. might need to trim front edge of lower bumper and check mud flap clearence . if 4x4 fender flares possible little work.

and if inner fender rubs pull it back some and tip tie it back .

glad your not going to crank them. it wears out parts faster and ride like crap. :waytogo:

I had them on my 97 1500 with no cranking needed. certain tires work better for some reason:dunno: My BFgoodrich a/t ko's fit fine and no rubbing. my buddy had the same truck and bought some firestone destination mt's in the same size and they didnt work. he ended up selling them and going smaller. I think your 2500 is a little taller than ours so should be fine

Yeah I want to keep my cushy ifs ride, so no cranking. Guess I'll have to have em mounted up and see. I don't mind a little bumper trim, but no fender hacking

All day long and twice on Sunday if you run the stock rims.

Random thought but 255/85R16's will fit, be as tall if not slightly taller than the 285's, and thanks to the narrower width will be even less likely to rub.
Very common in Load Range E too.

Re he heeeaaaly? I'll look at those. Yes I am running stock steelies on mine and prefer a tall skinny for what I use it for. Thanks for the info

I had them on a '99 suburban 2500, BFG at on '07 2500 hd aluminum rims only had to trim.a little off the front bumper. If I did it again I would go the 255 route. In my opinion the 285 looked a little pinched on the stock width rim.

And i think those 07 Aluminum HD wheels are narrower than the older generation.

I think the 07's are 6.5 wide, and the 90's version was 7 wide.

I know the 00-whatever 16" HD aluminum wheels were 7" wide. I had a set for Big Ugly that I never used.

Just did some research to verify, they are in fact 16x6.5.

And yes, i will argue over 1/2" an inch, especially with AJM :haha:

I've now owned 2 or 3 sets of these wheels. Never run them though.

Hmmmmm...they were wider than the similar vintage steel rims I had. Oh well, I'm not known for accuracy with a tape measure.

I have an 01' 3/4t burb with those tires on it now.
