wow i never thought CK5 would turn into a free for all where everyone beats somebody down or vice versa. if somebody has a design flaw and other people see it, they should point it out and the person should be mature and curdious enough to accept the help. none of us know it all and we lack skills and knowledge in one area or another. frankly theres guys much older than HOWDIY and myself that have been at this stuff a number of years but we are only here to help each other and appreciate each others rigs just as we appreciate our own. i am sure nobody wants to see anybody get hurt. the way i see it if there was some apologizing done to the older gentlemen that only tried to help and some people would word things a bit nicer, things would go alot steadier.

I think this is why some people are flaming Howdily. I'm not saying one side or the other is right, but I do think you are burning some bridges that you might need to cross in the future. I'm not rippin on ya man, i'm just telling you what's up.

As far as tech, I don't really have anything to contribute:D, but I will watch your thread and see how your project turns out.

You might wanna swallow some of your pride though, cuz most of these guys know what they're talking about

Honestly Some of the Younger Guys here , have stepped on the toes of a few seasoned Veterans. It would take alot more than an appoligy to change the way people feel after a punk , know it all 17 year pulls some Shlt like that.

No crack, but it does look like it, good eye.

It's 3 5/16's plates welded together.

Apparently pirate doesn't think it's a bad idea. I'm sure they would let me know if it was

They aren't flaming you over there, but there aren't many people encouraging it either. They may throw you advice, but the majority don't think its a good idea, or just recommend buying an arm.
WTF 5/16's? Are you serious?:shaking::shaking:
Why not just get a solid piece of 7/8" or 1" plate to make it from? CNC wont cut that thick?
Making a laminate arm out a of stacked 5/16" just seems like a waste of time.
:smokin:dana 60 high steer kit[/url] id say just buy some... but whatever

You never answered my question from my last post. How are you planning to deal with the angle on the Heim/TRE with a flat arm? Look at the operating angle in this pic. Granted his draglink angle is steep, but imagine if the mounting surface for the TRE was the same angle as the balljoint in the pic. The TRE would be maxed at ride height. Now imagine when that side is drooped out. There is a reason the manufacturers machine that angle in the arms.

I don't know one way or another. I am all for finding a cheaper way or easier way and thinking outside of the box. I have no idea how strong it will be, but my opinion is just to buy a steering arm and be done with it. It has the angle milled in and is proven to be strong enough.:wink1:

Wow, this thread is approaching Usenet quality

That illustration of the "right way" would carry a bit more weight if the owner hadn't installed it upside down on the wrong side. Check out the angle between the arm and the nut :doah:

I think if the draglink were closer to leavel it would look right. That nut is not tightened down either it appears.

That pic is from Pirate. I will go take a picture of mine to show the benefit of the machined taper.:wink1:

This guy didn't think I as stacking them, he though I was using a 5/16 plate for a steering arm

I'm confused as to what is going on in the pic:confused:? Obviously that's a front end (I think), but then why is the tierod and knuckles facing the rear of the vehicle. Are the knuckles swapped sides? Driver's to pass and vice versa, to locate the tierod behind the axle?

When you talk try to make sense. It makes things a heck of alot easier to understand.

Yes .

I'm sorry I used that ****ty pic for reference.

The point I was trying to make which has been discussed here many time before is that a flat arm is not a good idea.

I see what you did there, poor execution though, I have to give you props for holding a grudge that long though.

But I simply left a W, and a T out, Most likely from using a Mac computer at school today which requires much less force on the key board to register it

But as I recall your Pm's and post's were on par with the grammatical level of my 5 year old cousin

It's probably not the best, but I won't be wheeling for awhile so it will be more than enough to steer it around the garage

And also I'll bend the drag link like ORD does theirs, that should help a lot

But I may actually end up getting ballistic fabs kit, it's 130 bucks with the new king pin bushings, and the studs
